Paramore – I Caught Myself

  General Comment:I know i'm late. But I loved this song since it came out. I love Paramore and this song is about someone who is falling in love with someone who they shouldn't be falling in love with. Everyone else explained that pretty well. The part that can be ify but i'm going with the happier end, is if she ended up with him.

  I see this part as she's trying to convince herself that its not him she wants(Or if with Twilight, Edward trying to convince himself he doesnt want Bella) I don't see it as she's telling us that she doesn't really want him, its more of her trying to persuade us to believe her. She shouldn't have ever thought about him that way, but she did, and now its too late to turn back because she's in love.

  General Comment:i heard that hayley had already written this song before twilight even began
  to me its about sexually sinning and you know its wrong but its so hard to control yourself but then you finally have to strength to stop because you know that its not worth anything in the long run and that god is more important, that he's the one for you, he's the one you believe in.

  Song Meaning:The "God as my witness" line is a figure of speech. Both Stephanie and Hayley are religious people so it does actually fit in a hidden message kind of way. I don't think she is really focusing on God.

  General Comment:To me it seems as though it is Edward speaking of his feelings for Bella. (although Bella to Jacob works as well but because this was written with Twilight in mind, apparently, this is my interpretation.)
  
  Remember that when they first met, Edward had a revulsion to her. He was growing very much attracted to her, and he hated it, because he did not know why, nor did he want to. At first, more than anything he wanted to kill her.
  
  If you read Midnight Sun, Twilight told in Edward's point of view, when Bella's comes into the Biology class and sits next to him, he says that an unexplicable feeling of resentment, utter hatred flooded his mind. Who WAS this Bella Swan, who suddenly, it seemed, would ruin his no-life, just because she happened to move into the same town he lived in?
  
  But then he begins to feel protective, in the midst of his thirst for her. He wants her. He LOVES her.
  
  And that is why in this song, it says, "Now when I caught myself, I had to stop myself
  I'm saying something that I should have never thought
  Now when I caught myself, I had to stop myself
  I'm saying something that I should have never thought
  
  Of you, I knew, I know in my heart
  It's not you, I knew, but now I know what I want
  I want, I want, oh no I should have never thought."
  
  He caught himself, when he was devising a million ways to kill her, he caught himself and stopped himself from killing her. He stopped himself again from all those times he wanted to tell her the truth of who he was, and stopped himself before he had a chance to confess of his infatuation with her before the time was that he learned she loved him as well. He knows in his heart he SHOULDN'T be around Bella, he knows it is NOT good for him to let himself get carried away and pull her in more just as she's pulling him in. The song ends with, "I want, I want, oh no I should have never thought.", meaning that in the end, he gives up. And if you have read Twilight you will remember that he says that he grew tired of trying to stay away from her all the time. He was breaking ALL the rules, then.

  My Interpretation:I think it's about Edward's feelings.
  This song is so damn awesome. Love when Hayles says "You got it, you got it, some kind of magic".

  -(I think in this verse is Bella about Edward. The lyrics wouldn't have fit if it was Edward, and the way Hayley sings is so girly.) Bella always knew that Edward wasn't any man. That he was magic. She describes him as hypnotic, and she is constantly breathless when she looks Edward in the eyes. Edward dazzles her a lot, haha.-

  -I think it's SAY hate this. Like he is saying "HATE ME, BELLA!". She doesn't believe she should hate him. She believes he isn't a souless monster. And God is her witness, 'cause He knows Edward has a wonderful soul.

  My Opinion:Actually, I got nothing from Twilight out of this song. I think it's about loving someone you aren't supposed to love.

  I remember when my friend showed this song to me, at the time I had been falling for my best friend's boyfriend, (yeah, bad) and that's what I felt what the song was about.
  
  Perhaps it about Bella and Jacob's relationship, perhaps not.

  General Comment:I love this song. It has so much meaning to it and I see it completely differently from the whole twilight/new moon thing even if it was written for it. I see it as someone whose moved past an ex boyfriend or girlfriend and even though they are dating someone else, they still catch them talking to the ex and saying stuff that they don't mean. And no matter how hard they try to pull away, they are trying to convince themselves that the ex isn't "the one they don't believe in"
