I'm glad this is on the Twilight soundtrack. I really like this more than Decode. But, I think that's because it's more chill.

this song is really awesome. I think it's about how Edward feels, he loves Bella, but he is afraid because he can hurt her, and he doesn't know what he wants, or what he should do: leave her alone or fight for her, control himself and stay by her side. and he hates the fact that she is not afraid of him, she doesn't really care if he is a vampire, she loves him either, and she is always trying to get closer to him, while he is trying to do the opposite. I love paramore and twilight, and I'm really excited about the new album and the movie. loved the new song (L)

I love,love,love this song. I think the lyrics and music are amazing and thoughtful.
Ths second verse seems like it's Bella talking about Edward. But the chorus makes more sense to me if it's Edward talking about Bella. Since she never knew that he was a vampire in the beginning. Either way, I love Paramore and Twilight. I'm so stoked that they are on the soundtrack. :D

This song is absolutely beautifully amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! (with or without the twilight connection)
It fits perfectly to Edward's feelings and actions towards bella conveyed in twilight and midnight sun!His character is one that always contradicts himself, with what he really wants with what he really does.
He always tries to do the opposide of what he really wants to do, because he doesn't find himself deserving of love, believing himself to be a "monster".

He finds the more he tries to resist or fight off his feelings and new found interest for Bella by staying away from her or ignoring her, but it only makes it harder for him to stay away and the harder he falls for her.

paramore wrote this song specifically fot the twilight soundtrack and it makes perfect sense, especially in edwards point of view. But i just dont get how certain parts relate. for example--
"You're not the one I believe in
With god as my witness"

why wouldnt he believe in her? and how does God fit into it? and why does it say "but i know in my heart it's not you." ??

Oh I just love this song! It sounds to me like it's more like Bella's feelings about Jacob, particularly when she says:

"Don't know what I want, but I know it's not you
Keep pushing and pulling me down
When I know in my heart it's not you"


Doesn't really explain why it'd be in the soundtrack for the first movie though.

I really love both songs Paramore made for the film. They're AMAZING.

Lol that said I guess I'd agree this is about Edward's feelings for Bella, though to be honest it would fit better in new moon or eclipse. To me it sounds like Bella's feelings for Jacob.

I haven't bought the soundtrack or actually heard this song yet, but having read the books, the lyrics seem to me like they're describing Bella's feelings for Jacob in 'New Moon.' She knows she feels something for him, but she knows it isn't the same thing she felt for Edward, and she isn't sure whether it's just a sisterly affection or love (just not epic love-of-your-life love). She's confused.

Apparently Haley said that this song was actually written for New Moon, but ended up being put on twilight soundtrack because it could be interpreted in loads of ways or some thing.
I love this song, it's kinda different from a lot of their stuff. Especially love that last chorus and verse, when the guitars come back in with more force.

Totally bella talking about jacob, though that God As My Witness bit confuses me a bit.

oh my goodness, pure magic right there, this verse gives me goosebumps. This song is amayzing and Im not a twilight booke reader, but now I want to see the movie so I can hear this song and see how it ties in with the movie. Hayley has a beautiful voice and Paramores songs are all fan frikenn tastic.

But I see it as Bella's perspective on Edward. Like in the begining when Bella is confused about her feelings toward him, she doesnt want to think these things about him.

I love this song. But I think it's definitely Bella's thoughts towards Jacob... "Don't know what I want, but I know it's not you" ... don't think there was a point in any of the books that Bella doubted how much she wanted Edward. Or vice versa, for Edward's feelings for Bella. Anyway, can't wait til the movie comes out so I can see where all the songs fit in. So excitttted

for some reason i thought it was like bella & jacob cuz she's says i dont know what i want but i know in my heart its not you. its just me though which also wouldnt make sense cuz like y'alls have pointed out its on the twilight soundtrack but i think it makes more sense for bells and jacob

Considering Paramore wrote this about New Moon I’m inclined to believe this is about Jacob from Bella’s perspective.

My interpretation is:

Jacob was there for Bella through a tough time, hanging out practically 24/7, so naturally Bella starts to develop feelings for Jacob (the nature of such feelings are probably what’s confusing to Bella):

“You’re pushing and pulling me down to you…”

Bella is shocked to be thinking about Jacob that way and refuses to believe that she could have feelings for him:

“Now when I caught myself, I had to stop myself
I'm saying something that I should have never thought”

“I hate this, I hate this
You’re not the one I believe in”

So with the verse, I can see why people can assume it's about Edward as he’s the one who “dazzles” her, but could still be about Jacob as Bella did refer to him as good-looking in New Moon (mind you, it was after she bumped her head lol):

“Did you know you’re soft of beautiful?”

And at the end of the song, like the end of New Moon, Bella’s doubts in Jacob are justified as she realises it’s Edward she really wants, aided by Edward’s return:

“I know in my heart
It's not you, I knew,
but now I know what I want”

My initial interpretation was that it Edward's initial feelings towards Bella too in Twilight, except these lines confused me:

"You're not the one I believe in"

"Of you, I knew, I know in my heart
It's not you, I knew, but now I know what I want"

That's why I think it's Bella's feelings towards Jacob. If it were Edward's perspective, the song wouldn't have ended with "I know in my heart it's not you, i knew, but now i know what I want" because he did eventually break all the rules and allowed himself to want her.

If you wanted to keep this as a Bella-Edward song (which I desperately wanted to cause of magic/breathless/hypnotic lines), you could maybe assume this is what Edward was thinking before he left Bella in New Moon. And that despite being “pushed and pulled” down to Bella he had to leave?

I don’t know. My thoughts are weird.

I don't think that this song is talking about Edwards feelings for Bella or Bella's feelings for Edward.
I think it is about Bella's feelings for Jacob.
But I love this song it is so beautiful and her voice is amazing.
