I can see it in your eyes now,
You have come to resent me
Condescension in the silence
Your fingers are tired girl,
How they falter against my thigh
Your kisses are pining for the lips of someone else
Your visits getting shorter
Your heart is getting further from me
Your touch is getting colder
Always somewhere you need to be
Boys on your left side, boys on your right
Boys in your maths class who'll do anything you ask
You're pulling the trigger and the gun is in my mouth
A subtle annoyance laced with disgust
When you get older and those boys grow tired of you
You can come find me, I can never hate you
Boys on your left side, boys on your right
Boys by your locker who'll do anything you ask
Lets spend the whole day in bed then
Cause if we don't you'll want to, want to leave
I try to hold something I can
I try to hold something I can never keep
You have come to resent me
Condescension in the silence
Your fingers are tired girl,
How they falter against my thigh
Your kisses are pining for the lips of someone else
Your visits getting shorter
Your heart is getting further from me
Your touch is getting colder
Always somewhere you need to be
Boys on your left side, boys on your right
Boys in your maths class who'll do anything you ask
You're pulling the trigger and the gun is in my mouth
A subtle annoyance laced with disgust
When you get older and those boys grow tired of you
You can come find me, I can never hate you
Boys on your left side, boys on your right
Boys by your locker who'll do anything you ask
Lets spend the whole day in bed then
Cause if we don't you'll want to, want to leave
I try to hold something I can
I try to hold something I can never keep

i get that this song refers to their love dwindling and going away (prbably because the chick is sexually frustrated as an she wants it with everyone!) and that she is spending less and less time with the narrator because she is really busy being the center of attention and way too busy trying to get with all the admirers that she has
but the line that i dont get is
"You're pulling the trigger and the gun is in my mouth
A subtle annoyance laced with disgust"
i meann does this simply mean that she is disgusted or what??
and the thing is,i don't get what i don't get (as an i dont know what it is i don't get) Hahah omgg im tiredd sorry if this makes no sense!
haa
now i may be off on this, but its my interpretation of it:
"You're pulling the trigger, and the gun is in my mouth
A subtle annoyance, laced with disgust"
I think he's trying to say here that the person he is with (and losing) just puts him down a lot and it obviously gets to him. What i like about my interpretation is how "putting him down" can also mean shooting someone/thing ("had to put the ol' dog down") which works with the "pulling the trigger" line. But thats besides the point.
It's made clear by the following line "I can never hate you" that the singer is in love with the girl, even if he knows its not right for him. Anyone who has been in love with someone who wasn't right for them will understand the line "A subtle annoyance, laced with disgust". You might do or say something that slightly annoys the person thats wrong for you, and they have this ability to express that annoyance in such a way that hurts more than it should. Thats how i feel about that line, and yeah i've been there. You get put down enough like that, and it really does feel like they might as well pull the trigger on you.
But hey, thats just my interpretation.
Definitely my fav off Intimacy.
I LOVE THIS SONG.
In the UK, Talons was included on the standard release. Letter to my son and this one were on the limited edition.
Flux was released with extra b-sides over here as a single. Don't know if it was in America so it charted on downloads before the physical release due to our stupid chart rules which meant it couldn't be included on the album
lame.
