You could have knocked me out with a... (feather)
I know you heard this all before, but were just hell's... (neighbors)
Whoa-oa-oa-oa,
Wh-wh-why won't the world revolve around me?
Build my dreams,
Trees grow all over the streets.

But I don't know much about classic cars,
But I got a lot of friends stuck Classic Coke.
Down set one, hut-hut, hike,
Media Blitz,

Lets hear it for Americas suitehearts!
I must confess,
I'm in love with my own sins...
Lets hear it for Americas suitehearts!
I must confess,
I'm in love with my own sins...

You can bow and pre-tend,
That you don't, don't, don't know you're a legend, oh,
Time, time, time, hasn't told
Anyone else yet...
Let my love loose again.

But I don't know much about classic cars,
But I got a lot of friends talking Classic Coke.
Down set one, hut-hut, hike,
Media Blitz,

Lets hear it for Americas suitehearts!
I must confess,
I'm in love with my own sins...
Lets hear it for Americas suitehearts!
I must confess,
I'm in love with my own sins...

You could have knocked me out with a... (feather)
I know you heard this all before...

Lets hear it for Americas suitehearts!
I must confess,
I'm in love with my own sins...
Lets hear it for Americas suitehearts!
I must confess, (I must confess)
I'm in love with my own sins...

Suitehearts... (Lets hear it, oh lets hear it,)
Suitehearts... (Lets hear it, oh lets hear it,)
Suitehearts!

My Interpretation:This was the first song that Pete Wentz wrote after he found out his girlfriend Ashlee Simpson was pregnant.

You could have knocked me out with a...feather (Shock of becoming a father)
I know you heard this all before, but were just hell's...neighbors (lots of young celebrities have had children before him)
    Whoa-oa-oa-oa,
Wh-wh-why won't the world revolve around me? (His baby is the most important thing to him, so the world should revolve around his life)
In my dreams, Trees grow all over the streets. (He is dreaming of becoming a father, trees symbolise a healthy sate of mind.)

But I don't know much about classic cars, (classic cars are something a stereotypical father would know about)
But I got a lot of friends stuck Classic Coke.(he doesnt have a normal life)
Down set one, hut-hut, hike, Media Blitz, (He is preparing himself for the media attack)

Lets hear it for Americas suitehearts! (Pete and Ashlee, young American sweethearts)
    I must confess,
I'm in love with my own sins... (He loves what his sins(pre-martial sex)have led to(the baby))
Lets hear it for Americas suitehearts!
    I must confess,
I'm in love with my own sins...

    You can bow and pre-tend,
That you don't, don't, don't know you're a legend, oh, (what has happened is legendary)
    Time, time, time, hasn't told

But I got a lot of friends talking Classic Coke. (he doesnt have a normal life)
Down set one, hut-hut, hike,Media Blitz, (He is preparing himself for the media attack)

Lets hear it for Americas suitehearts! (Pete and Ashlee, young American sweethearts)

Lets hear it for Americas suitehearts!

I'm in love with my own sins...

Suitehearts... (Lets hear it, oh lets hear it,)
Suitehearts... (Lets hear it, oh lets hear it,)
    Suitehearts!

Anyone else yet... (but no one else knows about the pregnancy)
Let my love loose again. (will lose himself with love)

But I don't know much about classic cars, (classic cars are something a stereotypical father would know about)

General Comment:Okay, check it out. "Down, set, one, Hut, hut, hike," references football. A "blitz" is a type of football play. Therefore, it HAS to be blitz. It fits together. Read the lyrics and check for yourself guys.

General Comment:"I think this is one of the first songs that pete wrote after he found out that he would become a father. it takes something huge to "knock someone out with a feather." and i think this is what he was referring to. "

I agree with gregd224, now that this has been pointed out. I didn't really know anything about a child, but I can see how the "suitehearts" would be a couple, and "I'm in love with my own sins" could easily refer to how premarital sex, a "sin", could lead to a child.. but he would still be in love with it because it's still his child. That's how I see it, at least.

General Comment:everybody says its about either celebrities, the u.s. economy, pete himself, or masturbation. i think it's about all three, that's what makes it so great; not necessarily that it's so vague that its meaning can be attributed to anything, but because it makes you think about all these things, and that's what i think is the greatest thing a piece of art can do: make you think

General Comment:The song is actually about masturbation.

I was at the Fall Out Boy concert in Sydney, Australia in 2008, and Pete told us (the whole crowd) that the song was about masturbation.

I wish I could remember what exactly he said, but I cannot.

Song Meaning:ahhh the meaning. this song believe it or not is about us (the USA) slipping into a bad economy hence the word "America's" in the title. The USA was being selfish and finally we learned our lesson by this bad economy we now have. Patrick said it on Jo-Jo on the radio watch it on Youtube.

General Comment:The first time I heard this song (about 6 months after it came out, like April 09 or so) I thought he was saying, "I know you've heard this all before but we're just Hell' s GLAMBERTS" because even then I understood it was about people getting ridiculously obsessed with celebrities and thinking of them like gods or something, when really they're just like you and me. "I'm in love with my own sins" is the person admitting it's unhealthy to harbor such an obsession.

General Comment:I agree this song is about celebrities. However, rather than general idolization, I think it focuses on people who let themselves develop an obsessive fandom for one celebrity (or band, etc.) even though deep down they know it's unhealthy. "Build my dreams, trees grow all over the streets" - The person's dream is to meet the celebrity; the "trees" are things preventing them from doing so. "I'm in love with my own sins" - The person realizes it's unhealthy to harbor such an obsession (thus calling it it a "sin"). "You can bow and pretend that you don't, don't know you're a legend" - Holding a higher opinion of the celebrity than is warranted or exaggerating their positive traits. "Time, time time hasn't told anyone else yet / Let my love loose again" - refers to how such an obsessive fandom usually goes away after after several months.

General Comment:the lyrics posted are almost all correct. the only problem is instead of build my dreams it's IN my dreams. I think its about being caught up in glamour
