We use to pull off highway 249
Had a cool little place where we'd go hide on a Friday night
And get away from the city lights
We'd find a little wood and build a fire
Sonebody'd always bring a couple guitars
And we'd take turns singin' songs and watching it burn
We'd do "Ramblin' Man", "Proud Mary". and "American Band"
We'd be singin' at the top of our lungs

It was always the love songs every time
Made everybody feel something inside
With the fire down low held your girl real close
Made you wanna love the one you wre with
Gave you the courage of that first kiss
It was the love songs always the love songs

There was always a line stuck in your head
That was said in a way you wished you could've said
But you both knew they were singin' it right to you
It felt so good those times you had
That feelin' of wanting sombody so bad
Made you weak in the heart you couldn't take being apart
Honky tonk drinkin' songs we could do 'em all night long
But the ones i remember the most

It was always the love songs every time
Made everybody feel something inside
With the fire down low held your girl real close
Made you wanna love the one you wre with
Gave you the courage of that first kiss
It was the love songs always the love songs

We'd be singin' at the top of our lungs

It was always the love songs every time
Made everybody feel something inside
With the fire down low held your girl real close
Made you wanna love the one you wre with
Gave you the courage of that first kiss
It was the love songs always the love songs

Always the love songs
Always the love songs

General Comment:I heard this song for the first time a few days ago. It's a nice feel good song about things once good, and hopefully will be good again.

General Comment:George Ducas and David Lee Murphy did a great job with the song, and its performed perfectly by the band's tight harmonies. I love the song.

The narrator of the song recalls an earlier time in his life where he attended sing-alongs hidden back in the woods with a campfire. He remembers a few specific songs from those sing-alongs, but the love songs that set the mood for his romances were those that truly stood out.

I think this actually celebrates a bunch of kids hiding out in the woods to drink Boone's Farm Wine and make out. (although they never say it, that's what happens..). Throw in some guitar picking and all-night long "singing at the top your lungs" and you've got something to write about! Great job with this song!
