Lyrics for We Are The People as interpreted by kiwi_

We Are The People Lyrics
We can remember swimming in December,
Heading for the city lights in 1975,
We share in each other,
Nearer than father,
The scent of a lemon drips from your eyes

We are the people that rule the world.
A force running in every boy and girl,
All rejoicing in the world,
Take me now – we can try.

We lived an adventure
Love in the Summer,
Followed the sun till night
Reminiscing other times of life,
For each every other
The feeling was stronger,
The shock hit eleven – Got lost in your eyes

I can’t do well when I think you’re gonna leave me,
But I know I try,
Are you gonna leave me now,
Can’t you be believing now.

Can you remember and humanise,
It was still where we’d energised,
Lie in the sand and visualise
Like its 75 again,

I know everything about you,
You know everything about me,
Know everything about us

Best song on the album.
But is the lyrics correct? It's like it has too many words.

The song is so amazing! To me it's about looking back on the best times of your life with the people/person you loved and never wanting it to end. Simply Amazing.

i think as katana08 said its about lookin back on the times enjoyed but than suddenly it hits that this dream might end and paranoia sets in
I can’t do well when I think you’re gonna leave me,
But I know I try,
Are you gonna leave me now,
Can’t you be believing now.

or it could mean that the person was just dumped and he's tryin to get his partner to realise the good times they had together

Can you remember and humanise,
It was still where we’d energised,
Lie in the sand and visualise
Like its 75 again,

I know everything about you,
You know everything about me,
Know everything about us

I think this song could be about a couple who's nearing the end of a long relationship. About 2 people who have slowly grown apart, where one person wants them to be back how they were.

Ok... assuming this song has meaning let me chip in my two cents.
One, the singer was born after 1975 people.
Empire of the Sun? The sun worshippers do rule this planet... the light bringers, the babylonians.
Who is that lady at under the Colombia Pictures logo? Who is that lady who is the statue of liberty?
The Bablyonian goddess of war?
In 1975... microcomputers were invented i believe. This allows people to have their own PCs, a step away from mainframes i guess.
I think this song is about how the internet is exposing the real rulers of this planet.. the people who control us through our currency, through the central banks. If you dont think such a group exists, then
why has ever central bank pretty much done the same thing by creating more money during this GFC?
Why do the "axis of evil" nations not have central banks aligned to this group?
"Are you going leave me now, cant you be believing now."
Yes they can know everything about you.. they have the intelligence agencies in their pocket.
Yes some of the people of the world are starting to know everything about them.
But hey thats my view, maybe i am reading too much into it.

It's one of those songs that gets you a bit emotional, you can hear the meaning in it and it tugs at the heart strings.. interesting Blairman, your reasoning of this song. It makes sense. In fact at the moment I am looking at alot of world order conspiracy theories and it kind of wowed me you saw this song as maybe relating to one. Wasn't 1975 also a date that some people believed that a change would happen anyway.. but I won't go into it deep.

I think it is about hoping and dreaming about something which is what I'm going through at the moment and having that one person you love next to you and how you don't want them to leave or stop believing in that dream or ambition you have.. :)

This song is very good. I'm not sure of the lyric meanings.

What I do know is the verse is nice enough.

However when the chorus comes in the first time I can’t listen to it with my eyes open. They just close and I'm kinda transported away to an amazing place where my heart is light and body is moving even though I’m still.

I sit in an office and listen to music on my headphones all day! I kinda loose it for a bit sometimes! Lucky I work in a creative industry.

I think this pretty much portrays us as children of the sun. We rejoice in our life's and the memories it has. We rule the world, we humanize to energize. With the gloom outlook that one day we will return to the earth and one day be a part of the sun. The earth is rolling down a space time warp into the sun. If i can say anything about this song it makes me cry out for life and that humans must work toward anti aging research and our survival as a whole instead of cultural games and trying to make our life's peak during the middle of our life's.

I guess these lyrics seem so abstract, that they could mean whatever you want them to mean and what is relevant to you in your life at that time.
I haven't analysed the lyrics closely yet, but I don't believe this is a love song between a couple, but rather a love song about finding oneself.
I believe that this song has a spiritual significance. and that it is linked to the Mayan Calendar prophecies, (which end in 2012). I believe that "We are the people who rule the world", are the people who have found enlightenment. "A force runnig in every boy and girl", to me is our life force, energy, (there are many different names for this- kundalini, holy spirit etc).
If you look at some of the lyrics- "rejoycing in the world","we can try", "reminiscing other times of life", "I can't do well when i think you're gonna leave me", "I know everything about you, you know everything about me, know everything about us" To me it is about someone who has had a spiritual awakening and is not quite sure of it yet and is scared of losing what he has found.
I think it is about becoming one and a celebration of a new life.
life, death and re-birth.....
