    General Comment:Love the drums on this song and the strange echo effects towards the end along with the harmonica. Another awesome track from Dig Out Your Soul. Absolutely love the album so many good songs. Cant wait for the follow up to this album!!

    My Interpretation:I love Liam's songs and I also love his lyrics in spite of the fact that he has difficulties with words due to his poor educational background. However, what makes his lyrics so powerful is this simplicity and straightforwardity.
    For me Soldier On is about the whole life, and Liam's highly pessimistic world view can be captured in the fact that he uses less than 50 words for describing it. Namely, the song tells us that life is basically nothing else but a pointless marching toward the very end, and in the meantime does not happen very much: we just sing songs alone or not, without knowing the ultimate truth, and in the end we are gone. That's it. And still we do it.

    General Comment:To me it seems that Liam is asking a girl to have pacience in him and belief that he will be some thing else. One of my favourites off the album but I'm a little dissapointed with lack of lyrics in the chorus...

    General Comment:After TO BE WHERE"S THERE"S LIFE, my favorite track on dig out. The echo effects and repetitive bass are a long way removed from songs like Digsy's Dinner, much to the Band's credit IMO.

    Meaningwise-Keep the faith through disagreement/trials/conflict.

    General Comment:I didn't like this song that much when I first heard it but it just grew and grew on me.

    If everyone is entitled to their own interpretation, this song to me is an ode to the Iraq war. The timing of the release of this song is just perfect. I don't think oasis is an overly political band but these lyrics make me think about how the UK is entangled in the never-ending war. The words "soldier on" are ironic to me, not hopeful.

    "Hold the line, friend of mine" - perhaps a dialogue between the allies, USA and UK.

    "Don't be long" - the speaker doesn't want to soldier on.

    "Who's to say that you were right/
    And I was wrong?" - this makes me think of the "bogus" justification of the war and how the countries involved are pointing fingers at each other now because it's dragging on.

    "come the day, come the night/
    I'll be gone." - going back to those feelings of wanting to just pack it up and leave - but i guess it's hard when you're close allies.

    The steady army beat gave me the idea. The song also goes on and on, kind of like an unsuccessful war.

    General Comment:i love the vocal on this track, the echo and keychanges are very unexpected. This really does sound like a modern day beatles track. its even got some of the awesome weird effects throughout and especially at the end. Its kinda lucy in the sky meets fool on the hill with a touch of hey jude. very trippy. apparantly this song was written ten or so years ago and they found it on a demo tape but none of them could remember doing it. All that aside, it is an interesting way to finish the album. The lyrics are pretty straitforward. Don't give up on me, i'll keep on trying. if the album is some kind of concept about the apocolypse this would be where he finds out whether or not he gets to go to heaven or hell, the final scene.but we never know, and it doesn't matter - soldier on anyway.

    General Comment:2nd half of the song kicks ass, the 1st half is great too but the effects near the ned make it an amazing album outro!
