Eyes over the city
Rise up from your soul
They hang over the streets at night
Brought on by the cold

We live with the numbers
Mining our dreams for the same old song
Why hope for the turning
If everything you know is wrong

[Chorus]
So come on, shake your rag doll, baby
Before you change your mind
Then come on, when the rapture takes me
Be the fallen angel by my side

You carry the lantern
I'll carry you home
You search for the disappeared
I'll bury the cold

Yours is a messiah
Mine is a dream and it won't be long
No hope for the journey
If no-one ever sees the dawn

So come on, shake your rag doll, baby
Before you change your mind
Then come on, when the rapture takes me
Will you be by my side

[Chorus]

So come on, shake your rag doll, baby
Before you change your mind
Then come on, when the rapture takes me
Will you be by my side

Hey come on, shake your rag doll, baby
Before you change your mind
And come on, when the rapture takes me
Be the fallen angel by my side

(Shake your rag doll baby)
(Shake it 'round)
(Shake your rag doll baby)
(Shake it 'round)

General Comment:Well, don't know, but I think we can see here, as we can see in many other oasis' songs, as well as stone roses' and carpets' songs, some biblical and christian references.
For instance, rag doll could be a vodoo thing, fallen angel, could be the devil and the rapture is a term in Christian eschatology which refers to the "being caught up"

well, I think it's a kind of oasis style. we can see in some other songs too.

    What do you guys think?

    Cheers

General Comment:There is a game called Superfall, apparently you play it with your phone. Involves a rag doll as main character, doing a free fall towards a bottomless pit. The only way to save yourself from doom is to keep shaking your rag doll...don't know if there's any connection, but could be construed to agree with the lyrics...

General Comment:Kickass. This whole album is just pure energy, particularly the first half. The beginning of this song kind of reminds me of the end of Every Planet We Reach Is Dead by Gorillaz, anyone else notice that?

    Anyway, very catchy song.

Song Meaning:No one has really commented on what the lyrics really mean...

In my opinion, the song is all about having your lover/best friend by your side in times of trouble. Forget about your sins, their sins... forget everything. The only thing that matters is that you're with the person you should be with and in the end everything will be alright (a theme in so many Oasis songs).

General Comment:It is "Shake your rag-doll", I have the songbook that came with the Special Edition right here and it says that.

Also pretty awesome song. I love the new album, it definately has a different sound than they usually have had in the past.
