I love it!!! I like the lines "And truth be told, I miss you, and truth be told, I'm lyin'" the most. The situation's pretty obvious. This guy's probably angry at his ex for cheating on him or something. He smiles as if he's better off without her and hopes that she feels miserable when she sees him. Her life is probably crap and the guy's thinking that she deserves it for what she did to him. But i think he still has feelings for her because why else would he care about her being miserable?

Yeah, awesome song. Can't wait til 11/18

one thing i kind of get from this song is that maybe this was his girlfriend before he ever became famous, but she didn't believe in him and left him. now she's the one working a boring deskjob while he's a rich rockstar, and when she "sees his face" on mtv or something he hopes she realizes her mistake!

Really great. I can definitely relate.

As far as the meaning goes, he's obviously saying that he hopes when this girl that hurt him sees him in the future, it gives her hell. He's calling her a fool and saying he's even better without her.

I see what most of you are saying...that he broke up and he hopes that she is having this horrible, boring life but he still cares about her. but in the video at the very end where you usually get that one thing that lets you find out what the meaning is. Well, he and the guy that r "competing" ot whatever well it seems that they like eachothers girl and they end up "trading" girls. Then again the two guys are both the lead singer...hmm.. maybe they represent two parts of himself?

I agree with sXe LEXXI... I'm gonna bank that this song is dedicated to an ex girlfriend that wanted him to "settle down" with the "white picket fence" but that wasn't him... so they broke up... and now... however many years later... he's like "HA! How you like me now! I'm rich, I'm famous and I've got it all... what do you have?! Nothing... that's what I thought! And I hope you're reminded of that EVERY TIME you see my face." That's what I think... but I'm not bitter... lol

This song totally reminds me of my ex. He did a lot of lying and hurting me while we were together, but most of it didn't come to light until after we had broken up. Thankfully, I left him for the boy who became my fiance. So all's good. I'm pretty sure every girl/guy wants this regarding an ex. "When you see my face, hope it gives you hell, hope it gives you hell."

Anyway, I think AAR did really great with this song.

OMG! this song is EXACTLY what Im going through. He's angry at her for cheating or breaking his heart. And he wants her to realize what she had and wants her to want him back and feel miserable. SAME SITUATION WITH MY EX BOYFRIEND!

i agree with dannysmyman,
but it sounds like he's saying he's hoping
she regrets the breakup whenever she sees him
hence "when you see my face hope it gives you hell"
like i said making her regret it
but thats just my thoughts?

this totally relates to my situation..........this kid was like i really like u telling every1 we were going to go out and stuff he would always put his arm around me at school and have me sit on his lap and hold my hand (i'm not one 4 pda so i really liked him alot) and with every flirty glance or tickle i liked him more he kept saying he liked me alot..... and then he decided he didnt want to give up hooking up with girls every weekend.... so he didnt want a gf......but he said me and him could stay as we were(all flirty) and being stupid and naive i said ok but then told him no that i wasnt up for being used and being a toy.......he so regrets it now :) and i know i give him hell.....but he was so hard to get over

It sounds like this is a song to one of his ex's before he got famous...and now everytime she sees his face (especially now in this song) he's hoping that she's regretting having dumped somebody as big as him.

i think she broke up with him cause he wasn't making enough money. cause he mentions shiny cars & 9 to 5s.. so i think he's content with his life now & she's still looking for a good guy with a lot of money, while she's struggling for money herself. he wants to give her hell because he thinks it's fucked up that she broke up with him for that reason.

i didn't really like this song at first. but then one morning i was sick and i was laying in bed listening to the jump start on vh1 when this song came on and when i seen the video i became addicted to it. i love this song and the video is just random and funny. it reminds me of this guy that i was gonna go out with. he told all my friends he was getting ready to ask me out and we had hung out a couple times and then one day he just quit talking to me. he started ignoring me and stuff. i didnt waste my time worrying about it but "when he sees my face i hope it gives him hell" :] im sure it does because everyone told him he had fucked up big time. he actually walks back and forth past my classroom trying to make me look at him, but i just ignore it. i hope its giving him hell.

Sounds like a couple who didn't make it. Maybe she didn't believe in him. And now that he's famous, he's making a mockery of her life because she didn't believe in him. & The part.. "When you see my face, I hope it gives you hell" -- I think that means.. everytime she sees him in a magazine, or a video, or on tv... he hopes that it bothers her.

So I personally LOVE this song. It has an awesome catchy beat... I haven't heard any of the new CD other than this, but I hope there's more stuff like this. I'm more of a Green Day, Linkin Park type guy, but I heard it live on Jimmy Kimmel, and was singing along by the chorus.
