Do The Things (You Want) Lyrics
Let's write the songs that they want
I thought they'd love us but they don't they don't with tails stuck between our legs... we'll find a home made of regret we'll stay shipwrecked and sinking what a terrible thought to be thinking you were with us but you let these thoughts in your head we're not who we're supposed to be, with all the symptoms of the sickness we have seen are you better off leaving? Tough words held behind my teeth.. pleading that they'd be set free but they're empty That's what some always will want A game on who's best with their toungues.. that are faceless and groundless chorus with every song that you sing it's yours to the heart, and when you fly, you'll fall then a new one will start. my eyes burn with hope that you hear what you say. if this was just for the game (?) then may we never get paid and the music it makes my feet move too.. it's the same as the music that's inside of you the truth is that when you can see past yourself your song is the same as everyone else.. Let's write the songs that they want I thought they'd love us but they don't they don't

That being said...if this song is about what I think it's about then something tells me fans will have a lot to say about this one. Seems to be a pretty blatant jab at the reaction to I'm Only A Man.

it's yours to the heart;
and when you fly, you'll fall;
then, a new one will start.
my eyes burn with hope
that you hear what you say;
if this was just for today,
then, we never could care."
i think it says that, not 100% sure.

"Toby: [...] The lyrics are about a courtship process between our band and You, The Listener of the song. It's a call for true music fans to throw off their scene allegiance and actually give songs (plural) a real listen. I don't know how many iPods we see these days filled with bands, and then when you go to check out a band, the iPod only has ONE of their songs. If you like "Walls" and you think that is Emery, well, then we feel really sorry for you. We write honest music that we love, and then hope and pray that you will love it too. That's what a music scene should be: people supporting bands and bands being humble and appreciative of what their fans mean to them. We do appreciate you guys SO FREAKING MUCH, but we can't accept being labelled and kept in a box. That's selling out: writing "Walls" fifty different ways so we can pick up a paycheck. We are going to be around for a while and we hope every step of the way you will be there as fans and even more as friends that have helped us along each step. Also, if you feel differently, come up and talk to bands, any band, face to face, instead of hiding behind some cheesy name you think is cool, on some website."
I couldn't agree more. It was disappointing seeing them play with Chiodos and Devil Wears Prada; we were there for Emery but most people took off for their set, until they did Walls. You kind of felt like they HAD to play it. Sad. Anyway I'm glad they aren't going anywhere :).

There ain't no point to hearing a song without listening what the band(Emery) has to say.
With that, I hope people learn that they have to start changing their mindsets.
