You said it yourself
To convalesce from empty sorrow, someone had to squeal
To drive to the bottom
You said "I know."
I know it's not your fault
Like wire around your bones and you were never numb,

I take it I'm a mad man, but I would never squeal
I never said it was no good

The innocent will rest in the peace they've been given
Paintings will sleep on the floor
Build walls of lonely dreams, as beauty fades
I can't take this anymore!

Lock yourself up
Like a bird in a cage, you sing but no one ever listens
How much were you paid to sell out the madman?
Like a scientist or a master of design
I knew exactly what I was doing
And I heard of your disease
and shots of penicillin barely kept you alive

The innocent will rest in the peace they've been given
Paintings will sleep on the floor
Build walls of lonely dreams, as beauty fades
I can't take this anymore!

I am the clone
I dwell in silence
I am the clone
I dwell in silence
I am the clone
I dwell in silence
I am the clone
I dwell in silence

The innocent will rest in the peace they've been given
Paintings will sleep on the floor
Build walls of lonely dreams, as beauty fades
I can't take this anymore!

The innocent will rest in the peace they've been given
Paintings will sleep on the floor
Build walls of lonely dreams, as beauty fades
I can't take this anymore!

My Interpretation:"The innocent will rest in the peace they've been given"
I think that part is a reference to when a christen dies and goes to heaven, there he will be given his rightful and final resting place
to sit on the right hand side of God for eternity and beyond.
but don't take this seriously since I'm just 14
    what does I know?

"Painting will sleep on the floor"
there are no need for walls because the bad people are in jail so they dont have to worry about robbery and stuff. so without walls where will the paintings be? on the floor

General Comment:I think people are reading way too much into it. I saw Haste the Day in July last year. Stephen Keech said that the song is about going crazy. If I'm not mistaken there is a podcast interview that he also says it is about a man that ends up going crazy in prison. He ends up in prison while his acomplices go free or something like that, I'm not sure though so don't take my word on it. The name of the podcast is the anvil and the hammer. It is old now so it will be a older episode. Again, don't take my word on it, check it out for yourselves. He talks about a lot of the other songs off of Dreamer.

General Comment:i agree with 7500fx and the part "the innocent will rest in the peace they've been given, but i don't get the part where it says painting will sleep on the floor. what could paintings sleeping on the floor represent?

-i think is meaning that he can be like Judas at times (being a clone of Judas). bc we too mess up and do things that are not pleasing in God's eyes.
