Baby, you don't even know me but one day I'll get up the courage as you pass by.
You'll see.
Oh baby, one look just might save me.
I need you to slow by the corner.
Stop right in front of me.

Till then I'll see you hopefully through.
I do wish that you'd ask me to ride along.
It wouldn't be wrong to tell me more than I know about you.

[Chorus]
She drives a vegetable car.
Diesel, Mercedes, green, two-door.
I barely know who you are.
Lisa Lobe glasses.
I'd sure like to ask you to stay.

Baby, I need you to save me.
The one thing that my heart requires is that you admire me.

Till then I'll see you hopefully through.
I do wish that you'd ask me to ride along.
It wouldn't be wrong to tell me more than I know about you.

[Chorus]

How do I know why the sight of you makes me weak?
Each time I see you turn onto my street
Your hair is always up in a bun.
This girl is the one.

[Chorus]

Don't go.

I saw him live last night and he told the cutest story ever about how this song is about a girl who drives by his house several times a week and she has an old junker car which she converted to run on vegetable oil. He talked about how she has her hair in a bun and cute glasses but she never looks his way.

I like the Lisa Loeb reference alot. Cool girl, cooler song. So much fun.

Very progressive taste, sounds like she is eco-friendly, the earthy sensitive type. I like her too.

What I don't like is its position after "They Bring Me to You". Weird contrast after such a heart-felt song. I've been playing with the tracks a bit since I purchased the album. Here's what I've come up with:

    1-3-7-11-2-10-6-8-9-4-5

Creates a symmetry with "One of Those Days" as a progress to "Brand New Day". Anyway, it's how I've been playing the album. Despite the sadness and pining, it's a positive message...

hmmmm.... anyone else find it interesting that this song was written after the hotel cafe tour when he was touring with Ingrid Michaelson? Lisa Loeb Glasses? maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

I so think that negativenann is onto something. its is sooo Ingrid Michaelson he is singing about. Joshua used to have schuyler Fisk as his top friend on myspace and vice versa but now Schuyler is not even in his top friends and Ingrid has moved right up to no.1.

it's not about ingrid. it's about a random girl, like banshee said. he wanted her to come talk to him, but she never did. and so he wrote this "love" song about her, hoping she'd hear it on the radio and be like "hey that's me! i'll go talk to him now!" but then joshua left l.a. for new york or something, so she never even got the chance. he likens this whole experience to the archetypal singer-songwriter curse of cowardice and irony. i saw him both milwaukee and minneapolis, and both times he explained it.

em ... am i the first one to think he was making a little joke on the end of the chorus. I first heard it as "I sure like her assk you to stay". Is that just me?

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
