Lyrics for Dancing Dead as interpreted by SeeingRed

Dancing Dead Lyrics
Dead men, they celebrate,
as the final chapter fades away.
'Cause they can't hide, we can see their flesh is rotten.

The band plays a hopeful tune,
the champagne is poured as they socialize.
The look in their eyes, hide in the light.

Everything is paid for tonight, while at the party of the dead dancing in their graves.
The drinks here are free so relax,
enjoy the sight of all the dead dancing in their graves.
And while the world that they built, told 'em to change, told 'em to listen,
they just kept it the same.
And now that midnight has come, I'll get a room watching the dead dancing in their graves.

Bones covered up by suits, as the visible scars, they multiply.
Kiss it goodbye, too stubborn and I'll destory.

Tick, tock, the time bomb has been
recognized and pressurized.
Nowhere to hide, swallowing light!

I feel a coming strength
And now it's too late to chan-

[Background chatter.]

Everything is paid for tonight, while at the party of the dead dancing in their graves.
The drinks here are free so relax,
enjoy the sight of all the dead dancing in their graves.
And while the world that they built, told 'em to change, told 'em to listen,
they just kept it the same.
And now that midnight has come, I'll get a room watching the dead dancing in their graves.

kinda remindes me a little of All Saints Day. its what most other countries have as a replacement for Halloween, where families go to the grave yards of loved ones all night and the pretty much eat and drink the night away next to their tombstones

It definitely has a deeper meaning.
Guitarchick said in a nutshell what I'm thinking.

Society (especially the rich that got their money through shifty means) tries to hide their inner selves by dressing themselves up nicely, drinking expensive champagne etc, while truthfully they are corrupt and dead inside.

it's about the titanic. obviously eveerything was free, it was a rich cruise. "the band plays a hopeful tune" talks about the ands that kept playing, despite sinking. and if you look at the back(?)of the cd/dvd case, there's a boat that had run into a building in the middle of the water that cleary resembles the iceburg.

i really like the titanic interpretation from until_the_end(a7x).
but i also feel like this has got a different message too. maybe they're talking about hypocritical conservationists?
because they say "And while the world that they built, told 'em to change, told 'em to listen, they just kept it the same."
like all these political people, such as Al Gore for example, are telling people to change the way they live because they're destroying our planet and depleting natural resources. but these same people with political power don't bother applying these ideas to themselves.
they throw extravagant parties, drive expensive gas guzzling cars, live in large houses that require a lot of energy, and take private planes that use up insane amounts of fuel and money.
i mean maybe i'm way off, but avenged is prone to writing about politics so i figured this might be that deeper meaning some of you thought could be there.

This song made me think of the El Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead(Spain, Latin Americas, and Mexico's "Halloween" ), a day they celebrate the dead by visiting their graves and having a toast and dancing for them.

I think this song is about how Avenged Sevenfold always have done the kind of music they have wanted to do, not giving in to what others have told them to play
"And while the world that they built, told 'em to change, told 'em to listen, they just kept it the same."
And how they are confident that they have made the right choice and look at others who have made their choices depending on money (That would be the Dancing dead in the song)

But i guess that it could be the other way around also

Just an idea :)

i think its about people in power
such as polititions or the people on wallstreet
like the A.I.G bank thing where they got bailed out then they used the money given to them by the tax payers(a.k.a you) to go on vacation
eventhough they're rich and succesful their lives arent really all that great, they suck.
kinda like george bush. he is rich, has a family, he was president. in charge of the greatest country on earth. but not many people really liked him

i dont know how to say it
its about people who we are suposed to look up to and want to be like (the rich, famous, successful)
but shadows is saying their lives arent as great as you think
they're dead inside
acting like their happy . dancing around sayin look at me
but their dead inside

i dont know if you get what im sayin but
thats the best i can explain it

I tend to agree with the interpretation that xXw1ck3dXx gave. I think it's about people waking up to the corruption that has run rampant in the world. People all over are waking up to the powers that be and understanding that our government is little more than a puppet and that the international banking cartels run the world. Hence "we can see their flesh is rotten."

I don't agree with fakeblood's interpretation. Al Gore is a charlatan and the global warming hoax has been obliterated. Climategate has left the IPCC in shambles and it has lost ALL credibility. Let's preserve our earth through effort, not a global tax to make the rich richer.
