I'm not loving you, the way I wanted to
What I had to do, had to run from you
I'm in love with you, but the vibe is wrong
And that haunted me, all the way home
So ya never know, never never know
Never know enough, til it's over love
Til we lose control, system overload
Screaming no no no, no no
I'm not loving you, the way I wanted to
See I wanna move, but can't escape from you
So I keep it low, keep a secret code
So everybody else don't have to know

[Chorus]
So keep ya love lockdown, ya love lockdown
Keeping ya love lockdown, ya love lockdown
Now keep ya love lockdown, ya love lockdown
Now keep ya love lockdown, you lose

I'm not loving you, way I wanted to
I can't keep my cool, so I keep it true
I got something to lose, so I gotta move
I can't keep myself, and still keep you too
So I keep in mind, when I'm on my own
Somewhere far from home, in the danger zone
How many times did it take til I finally got through
You lose, you lose
I'm not loving you, the way I wanted to
See I had to go, I had to move
No more wasting time, you can't wait for life
Were just wasting time, wheres the finish line

[Chorus]

I'm not loving you, the way I wanted to
I met no one new, I got no one new
No I said I'm through, but got love for you
But I'm not loving you, the way I wanted to
Gotta keep it going, keep the loving going
Keep it on a roll, only god knows
If I'll be with you, baby I'm confused
You choose, you choose
I'm not loving you, the way I wanted to
Way I wanna go, I don't need you
I been down this road, too many times before
I'm not loving you, the way I wanted to

[Chorus]

Song Meaning:This song is for everyone. It's about a battle inside all of us - one side wants to love, while the other wants to run for fear of hurt. In the video Kanye's relating the way we love in today's society with our lost connections to our roots - that not being true to ourselves causes deep emotional conflict/pain.. Hence when we have our love on lockdown we lose. The moral is to not hold back but to love freely. x

General Comment:Ah....this 'man' just ruined the start of my morning by appearing in a rerun of CSI Miami (from 2009). I heard/saw a dorky-sounding nerdy man trying to act and quickly realized it had to be Kanye, who also attempts to sing/rap:) I didn't think he could be worse at anything (other than rapping), but he proved me WRONG once again! As for the song, he is SOOOOOO off-key in one part of the song that if I had hair on my back it would surely stand at attention. The song's concept isn't bad (hiding away one's feelings for reasons unknown), but his voice is soooooooooo horrible. I keep wondering who he slept with to get into the business, but then I realize it's Kanye, and who the hell would want to sleep with him! This man is greasing some ignoramous' weasel 'cause there's no other explanation why he's been so successful...

General Comment:i agree i think it's about keeping a relationship secret which ultimately is destructive because you have to act as if you don't love this person when really they're all you want and you can't do what you normally would and it sucks. :(

General Comment:BTW I don't quite think the song and my life experience that it reminds me of necessarily match up, just sort of an association.

General Comment:2 things about this song:

    1. Reminds me of a situation in my life. Not a failed relationship, but a relationship that would be successful but doesn't quite exist because of things beyond my control.
    2. "So I keep in mind, when I'm on my own, somewhere far from home, in the danger zone, "how many times did it take 'fore it finally got through?"/You lose, you lose"

If I were in the danger zone, I'd be thinking "holy shit, I'm in the danger zone, how do I get out?!?"

My Opinion:This song is the only one from kanye that i really loved and loved the first time i heard on the computer before it was really even being played much on the radio. I think that was one song they didn't play enough and stopped really playing it to soon. that last comment about the song seemed pretty angry and sure of urself that it means he isn't into women. Well you have ur opinion just like i have mine. i think it felt like it could of been a very personal song about something in his life he needed to get out. I wish i could be like him and other artists who can get there feelings out like that. Even if it was just a song for him he did a hell of a job making others feel like that sure was not the case. I think he wanted to get how he felt out without completely giving all the details out especially in the video.I think it was a way to hide some of the truth with something that would be visually stimulating and really make u search for the meaning behind it. I don't know if there was any meaning behind the tribal people or not but i know that song has a lot of meaning for me and did as soon as I heard it. Still has same meaning to me know as it did 3 years ago because I am still with the same person that brings meaning to that song for me. i feel every word he sings about. Just like when he says i try to keep in mind when i 'm on my own somewhere far from home in the danger zone how many times did I take fore i finialy got through. you lose. that means to me when we r not with each other and in a situation with someone else that could turn into something and trying I am trying to get through to you but can't then you might have just lost me. might have given in when it could of just taken you answering ur phone to keep my mind right. or visa versa. when he says you cant wait for life and where is the finish line and says i said im through but got love for u. BABY I AM CONFUSED RIGHT ALONG WITH YOU!!! man its getting to me know just reading the lyrics again cause it is so what i am feeling and still going through. I have the most in common with the line where i want to go i dont need you i been down this road to many times before. i not loving you the way i wanted to. I am living those lines. All of them and i get the meaning out of it that means the most to me. Like with every song or saying or poem what ever you r going through in ur own life is gonna be what u usually find behind the meaning for you.

General Comment:Oh jesus. This song is so simple, people. Kanye is a big old flamer and he's keeping a woman strung along, hence why he has to "keep it low, keep a secret code." She's his BEARD for christ's sake. Lots of homos do this in fact one could argue that's the entire basis for civilization: keeping women's pussies on lockdown so they can run things. Now Kanye is doing all of us who care to listen a huge service: he's letting women know that when they let men lock their love down, THEY LOSE, "you lose, you lose, you lose. The end scene of the video with the two glowing lesbians surrounded by a bunch of warriors in African garb symbolizes ancient humanity, which celebrated the goddess and women by extension. This was all pre-civilization. All those civilized teachers will have you believe there never was a goddess culture. But there is a lot of repressed lesbianism in civilization. Wonder why that is? Women are feared and scorned into denying their true natures. Masculinity and maleness is by contrast celebrated. A male God and by extension MEN are celebrated. Do you see? Pendulum swinging. Kanye is BRILLIANT. He's definitely not into women and this song is not about a relationship. Look past your own piddling lives for christ's sake.
