I've been roaming around
Always looking down at all I see
Painted faces, fill the places I can't reach

You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody

Someone like you, and all you know, and how you speak
Countless lovers under cover of the street

You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody
Someone like you

Off in the night, while you live it up, I'm off to sleep
Waging wars to shape the poet and the beat
I hope it's gonna make you notice
I hope it's gonna make you notice

Someone like me
Someone like me
Someone like me, somebody

Someone like you, somebody
Someone like you, somebody
Someone like you, somebody

I've been roaming around,
Always looking down at all I see

My Interpretation:I really think that this song is about a guy looking for a prostitute. I know this kind of diminishes the sweetness of the song but I really think that´s what it is:

    I've been roaming around
Always looking down at all I see
Painted faces, fill the places I can't reach

He´s passing through a prostitute lane, just looking at the girls,
"painted faces fill the places I can´t reach" i interpret like he´s had terrible luck
with a girlfriend or with women in general, and the "painted faces" of these girls fill in the place of a good real relationship wich is what he wants but haven´t been able to get. So he is recurring to a prostitute to get something as close as it can get for him.

You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody

He needs someone to be with him, anyone.

Someone like you, and all you know, and how you speak
Countless lovers under cover of the street

One of the prostitutes catches his attention.
"Countless lovers under cover of the street" She´s a prostitute, countless lovers then, and under cover of the street is because there is where she works.

Off in the night, while you live it up, I'm off to sleep
Waging wars to shape the poet and the beat
I hope it's gonna make you notice
I hope it's gonna make you notice

You work at night, when everyone else is sleeping,
Working hard to make your clients believe that you are giving something more than just sex to them. Telling them nice things, making them feel like you particularly like them more than just a costumer. (...the poet and the beat)

    Someone like me
    Someone like me
    Someone like me, somebody

I hope that even though, you notice that I´m really special.
He hopes that she doesn´t fake those thing with him, that she really care
for him, cause that´s what he really really needs.

    Someone like you, somebody
    Someone like you, somebody
    Someone like you, somebody

    I've been roaming around,
Always looking down at all I see

    That´s my interpretation.

My Interpretation:everywhere he goes he sees superficial people (painted faces)and he's looking down because it makes him sad or depressed because he doesn't feel understood by these people (the places he cant reach)

He could "use" somebody to keep it real with him, somebody that understands, that isn't superficial and doesn't wear a painted face (some chick he likes?)

He thinks she is smart and he admires the fact the she can relate to the way he feels and he is shy and subtle so he hopes she notices that he writes lyrics and music to impress her (with all you know and how you speak, waging wars to shake the poets and the beats)

    He hopes she notices.....

General Comment:He's trying hard to get that one person he thinks is really special to notice him, and he's doing things on purpose to be seen, but he isn't.

Song Meaning:I don't know why, but this song just doesn't make me think of him being on tour and stuff.
    When I first heard it I thought;
That he was lonely, just wandering through life, seeing people and just going through life to finish it.
And then he's remembering somebody, and thinking he could really use somebody like you in his life. Like he needs someone to be there with him, and that all he thinks about is that person. But then maybe he or she just doesn't even bother noticing him. And that makes everything worse because he just WANTS to be noticed. He wants someone like HIM(anything could be meant by this) to be noticed by a person he thinks is really special. And he just feels bad that he wont have that persons attention because it means everything to him.

General Comment:These guys have a religious Bg...I dont think its so far fetched to think this song is meant to be from from God's perspective....He is looking down from Heaven..... painted faces I cant reach means these are the areas of the world he cant reach because those people are are not receptive to him...all about free will. He cant reach them, they have to be willing....While you live it up is talking about us as sinners...We are all out living it up and he sits back because he cant do anything and just hopes one day that we will notice Him(SOMEONE LIKE ME..)....It starts off Him saying he could use (SOMEONE LIKE YOU)to be someone who can reach those who are lost....in the lyric "and all you know and how you speak"...means that God may be talking to him(Caleb)...Maybe with all that Caleb knows(religion) and the fact that he may have been expected to be a minister because he is well spoken.....maybe God is telling him that he sure could use him to help him lead the lost to Christ.......I know this sounds "out there" but as someone who came from a religious BG and got a little off the path, got a warped view of religion for awhile because of a corrupt minister, I can really see how this interpretation could be correct....if anyone was raised up in a relious family, you can sympathize with this War in your mind between knowing what is good and right and the evil ways of the world. Its really difficult to deal with....I think Caleb is going through this right now...

General Comment:I can't believe these dipshits smoke cigarettes. To each his own but i'll bet their tour bus smells like an moving ashtray. They better enjoy their youth because anyone who smokes ends up looking like wrinkled prunes in their 30's and 40's.

General Comment:What a bunch of thoughtless automatons you commenters are.

The question was: what does this song mean to you?

    "I really like this song."
    "me too..."
    "I love Caleb!"
    "I like Kings Of Leon"

Now I can expect any Kings of Leon concert to be full of people with IQ's less than 10.

I won't even bother to say what this song means to me. There is no point to sharing anything with morons.
