Lyrics for ALPHAdog and OMEGAlomaniac (Demo) as interpreted by xkitty4lifex

ALPHAdog and OMEGAlomaniac (Demo) Lyrics
clap until your hands hurt
standing ovations or boos
watch us until we blur
walk off into the sunset

tell rock'n'roll i'm alone again
i wanna put the midwest home again
your time is passing
she never means never
some of these years dont last forever

forever
never means forever

alphadog and omegalomaniac
alphadog and omegalomaniac
welcome to the new administration
i can almost see the wizard through the curtains
alphadog and omegalomaniac

"?? and save the words for the curtains"

i wanna say he's saying something that sounds like,
"i can almost see the ...(words?)... right through the curtains"
but that doesnt make as much sense

and instead of tell rock n' roll i'm alone again
i thought it was

damned rock n' roll, i'm alone again

but i dont know if that would make much sense

i don't know why, but I see this song as something about Pete and Patrick. Like, Patrick is alpha as the singer but Pete's the "omegalomaniac" as in megalomania obviously hah, everyone sees him as this guy obsessed with himself and delusion of excessive grandeur and such. But he's the wizard behind the curtains, the guy making all the awesome lyrics that everyone loves but they hate him. I don't know, it's an idea. but i love this song :)

To understand this song you have to think about the context which the album was released, which was around the time that the US election was heating up. Folie A Deux was even scheduled for November 4th, election day. The Hush Sound did a song on the album called "We Believe In (Barack Obama)." It could be said than, that the entire album was talking about the New Administration of the US, AKA Barack being elected.

"welcome to the new administration
you can almost see the wizard through the curtains"

Yes, it is a reference to the Wizard of Oz. When Dorothy finally finds the Great Wizard of Oz, who is the master of the land, she finds that it is just a figurehead controlled by a smaller, much more timid person.

Knowing that, the above quote stands for how when the New Administration (of the US) is put in place, that the citizens of the USA will finally be able to "almost see the wizard behind the curtain," as in: we will be in a less corrupt, more visible, government under Barack; as compared to the Old Administration, G. Bush Jr., which was nothing but a giant head controlled by unseen, uncontrollable forces. They say that you can "almost see the wizard" because this is just the first step to repairing the US to its former glory.

That was my favorite quote the entire album. It always gave me goosebumps for some reason. The rest of the song will be short.

This part is taken from Barack's point of view:

tell rock'n'roll i'm alone again
(Congress is a group of people, a band, and now he is alone campaigning for the US presidency.
i wanna call the midwest home again
(He's a senator from Illinois. Illinois is in the midwest, generally middle class. He wants to made the middle class citizens better off.)
your time is passing
(Directly speaking to G. Bush.)
she never means never
(Directly speaking about H. Clinton and how she lied during the campaign.)
some of these years dont last forever
(G. Bush is running out of time.)

"ALPHAdog and OMEGAlomaniac"

This is a comparison between B. Obama and H. Clinton. Obama is the Alphadog, and Hillary is the megalomaniac. Also, the Greek reference to Alpha and Omega, stating that Obama is the first, and Hillary is second.

Phew! Great! That wraps it up. This is the only song i really enjoyed from the ChildrenFOB Mixtape i actually enjoyed.

thats definitely an interesting interpretation, i'm curious though - what about this song leads you to beleive fob support Obama? I'm a supporter myself, i'm just wondering where in the lyrics you drew that fob are democrats, or are they public about it?

just kidding, i clearly didn't finish the rest of your comment because you spell that out in the next paragraph...

a side note: in the greek alphabet Alpha is first and Omega is last, not second...so do they mean Hillary was last like the worst possible candidate?

Man, I'm so upset that this and Lake Effect Kid aren't on the new album.
This song and especially Lake Effect Kid are awesome. It wouldn't have hurt to have two extra tracks :/

And Pete lies! He says 'you'll have to wait for the rest of that' at the end but now it looks as if it'll never be released properly.
Sigh.

omega:
the 24th and last letter of the Greek alphabet

megalomaniac:
a person afflicted with megalomania.

and megalomania is:
an obsession with doing extravagant or grand things.

so, put it together. got any ideas what it means?

When I first heard this song,
I actually thought it said, "Standing ovations of booze."
Of course, I didn't understand why it said that,
because it didn't really make any sense, but I thought, "Hmm. Well, it's Fall Out Boy, so."
Lol.

i love this song too much,
the title is genius.
and i love the wizard of oz reference.
i think it may be about how, maybe, they didnt want this kind of fame, but now they've got it they mays well do something good with it, and they wish they were the same, but they're not.
thats just my thoughts.
i could be wrong.
