Walking on a dream
How can I explain
Talking to myself
Will I see again

We are always running for the thrill of it thrill of it
Always pushing up the hill searching for the thrill of it
On and on and on we are calling out and out again
Never looking down I'm just in awe of what's in front of me

Is it real now
When two people become one
I can feel it
When two people become one

Thought I'd never see
The love you found in me
Now it's changing all the time
Living in a rhythm where the minutes working overtime

We are always running for the thrill of it thrill of it
Always pushing up the hill searching for the thrill of it
On and on and on we are calling out and out again
Never looking down I'm just in awe of what's in front of me

Is it real now
When two people become one
I can feel it
When two people become one

Is it real now
When two people become one
I can feel it
When two people become one

Catch me I'm falling down
Catch me I'm falling down

Don't stop just keep going on
I'm your shoulder lean upon
So come on deliver from inside
All we got is tonight that is right 'till first light

Is it real now
When two people become one
I can feel it
When two people become one

Is it real now
When two people become one
I can feel it
When two people become one

Song Meaning:This song sounds like an homage to someone special lost in the narrators life. The narrator is struggling and finds motivation in circumstances which seem mundane and tedious never considering the thrill of seeing what lies ahead.

"We are always running for the thrill of it
Pushing up that hill searching for the thrill of it
On and on and on we are calling out and out again
Never looking down I'm just in awe of what's in front of me"

Two heads work better than one, and now the narrator wonders:
    "Is it real
    When two people become one
    I can feel it
    When two people become one"

Motivation from within formed from external motivation from that special someone and some self awareness. The narrator sounds bereaved, and now has a champion within.

"Don't stop just keep going on
    I'm your shoulder lean upon
So come on deliver from inside
All we got is tonight that is right 'till first light"

My Interpretation:I think this song is about a romantic realtionship.
    "Is it real now
    When two people become one
    I can feel it
    When two people become one"

These lyrics remind me of the last stanza in Pablo Nerudas poem, Sonnet XVII-
"than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep. "

My Opinion:to me, the first part of the song doesnt have anything to do with love. it is about going for your dreams. no matter what. 'running for the thrill of it' shows that he really enjoys fulfilling his dreams. 'catch me im falling down' may show that everything is hard as there are always struggles in life. but later he says 'dont stop'to show that you have to fight for what you love. maybe this song is just about his passion.

General Comment:To think this song is about love is to take its meaning on a completely surface level. This song isn't about love at all.

It's about a person chasing their thrill, whatever it is, always "pushing" to find his thrill. It's a very individualistic song-- it celebrates the power of oneself to command his own world. Your world can be a thrill if you make it that way.

It's such a beautiful message. Doesn't have anything to do with romance.

My Interpretation:I think this song is about gay sex.

If you look at song lyrics a lot, you begin to realize that some of them are a bit autobiographical in nature and Walking On A Dream is no exception to this rule. The duo who forms this group are both guys who took a break from their primary musical projects (The Sleepy Jackson, Pnau) to put this album together. Maybe they bonded during the creative process involved in making an album's worth of music - maybe they didn't. But either way, they wrote this song together. Let's look at the lyrics, shall we?

First verse: From "Walking on a dream" to "will I see again"
Interpretation: I am arguing with myself about whether or not to have gay sex. He's "walking on a dream" and asking himself "how can I explain" because he doesn't really believe that he's actually having this discussion with himself. "Will I see again" indicates that he has decided to have gay sex right now; he is questioning whether he will "see again" as a way of wondering if he'll ever go back to enjoying heterosexual intercourse.

Chorus, Part 1: From "We are always running" to "...what's in front of me"
Interpretation: The very first line of the chorus, "We are always running for the thrill of it" says to me that men who have consensual homosexual sex feel persecuted by their peers, as homosexuality is still frowned upon by many people in western society. I believe that it also means that they have to hide their gay sex from others for fear of that persecution. Lastly, I interpreted its third meaning being that they enjoy the thrill of having gay sex together.

The line beginning with "on and on and on" refers to the act of having gay sex. The repetitive motion that exists within this particular phrase "On and on and on" verbally illustrates the thrusting and pumping of intercourse. "Calling out and out again" references their passionate moans while having consensual, homosexual intercourse with one another. The final line of the chorus "Never looking down I'm just in awe of what's in front of me" is sung from the perspective of the top man, who is talking about his vantage point of his lover and how beautiful he finds the other man.

    Refrain: "Is it real now..."

Interpretation: The singer begins this passage of the song with a question "Is it real now?" followed by this statement which clarifies further "When two people become one." To me, this describes the love shared between two men when one climaxes inside the other. He is questioning whether or not their love is consummated by this moment when his lover climaxes into him.

Second verse: "Thought I'd never see..."
Interpretation: This verse contains language pertaining to love and sex. At the beginning of this verse the singer mentions his initial insecurity that his attraction to his lover is mutual. "The love you found in me" is a direct reference to anal intercourse, where "in me" is literally inside one of the men. The second part talks about the fact that they are now having gay sex all the time together. "Now it's changing all the time" means that their relationship has transformed from a platonic bond between two men into a loving, homosexual partnership; "Living in a rhythm where the minutes working overtime" means that they are frantically trying to have as much as possible with each other.

Bridge: "Catch me I'm falling down"
Interpretation: The singer is asking for a reassurance from his gay lover for trust as well as asking him to be a moral support while he comes to terms with his newly discovered sexuality.

Third Verse: "Don't stop just keep going on..."
Interpretation: Line by line interpretation is thus: Don't doubt the validity of this homosexual relationship, just find comfort in me, come inside my butt, we don't have much time left tonight so stop questioning your sexuality and let's do it (have gay sex).

But yeah, cool song. I like the chords and things.

My Opinion:It's about love and sex. Not in a nasty, graphic way though. It's just an adventurous, great love and the sex is of two people who really love each other "becoming one."
Literally my favorite song ever for almost a year now.
It's just so straight up, no bullshit. And separate from the lyrics, the instrumentation of the song is brilliant too, it's sexy and funky and chill and just kind of rolls on. Too short though, it's only downfall.
If it's not seen to be about love and sex it should just be taken as an uplifting, amazingly joyous song about general happiness and appreciation for living.
*Note that the comment type is "My Opinion."

General Comment:This is such a great song. It's a REAL song, whatever the meaning. Personally I think it's about living life and making the most of what you've got.

"Walking on a Dream" - This refers to the feeling of acheiving your dreams and success.
"We are always running for the thrill of it" - The thrill of moving forward, being rewarded, and becoming stronger.
"Never looking down I'm just in awe of what's in front of me" - There is so much to see, acheive and experience during the course of our lives. There is no point regretting or reminiscing over the past, just try to make your mark and leave something behind.
"Is it real now When two people become one" - A metaphor for exceeding and becoming "Number One" out of many by pushing and working hard

That's just what I think. It could mean many, many other things. But yeah, it's an awesome song I listen to it all the time to help me move forward and put in that extra mile every day.
