Lyrics for Paradise Lost as interpreted by coxistence

Paradise Lost Lyrics
[verse 1]
So watch my chest heave as this last breath leaves me
I am trying to be what you're dying to see
Feel like fuck, man
Can't take this anymore
This heartbreak
This life that's so fateless
How could he just forsake us?
Breaks us, he makes us, hate us, he gave us
Nothing but no trust, and I am so fucked up
So let this gun bond us, let's side by this lust
And once we are just us, he'll know that he loves us

[chorus]
Let it all burn
I will burn first
God, I tried, am I lost in your eyes?
Just let me burn
It's what I deserve
God, I've lied, am I lost in your eyes?

[verse 2]
So take me and make me
Weaken and save me
This hate you gave me
Keeps saying the same thing
To sing when you hurt, and to sing when you cry
To sing when you live, and to sing when you die
And here at the end, at the end of the hurt
All the pain ain't the same when it's your turn
We're the heart for the heartless
The thoughts for the thoughtless
The lies for the liars
We're the gods of the godless

[chorus]
Let it all burn
I will burn first
God, I tried, am I lost in your eyes?
Just let me burn
It's what I deserve
God, I've lied, am I lost in your eyes?

[verse 3]
So cry three tears for me
When it's all gone, sing me this song
So cry three tears for me
When it's all gone, when it's all gone
I can not stand who I am, I'm this man
With this blood on my hands, in this blood I am damned
So watch my wings burn as they burn in the fire
Don't scatter the ashes, no need for the choir

[chorus]
Let it all burn
I will burn first
God, I tried, am I lost in your eyes?
Just let me burn
It's what I deserve
God, I've lied, am I lost in your eyes?

Just thought I'd let you all know,
these are the lyrics. things in []'s
are add (and in these, were just a mistaken
word)

[verse 1]
So watch my chest heave as this last breath leaves me
I am trying to be what you're dying to see
Feel like fuck, man
Can't take this anymore
This heartbreak [this]
This life that's so fateless
How could he just forsake us?
Breaks us, he makes us, hate us, he gave us
Nothing but no trust, and I am so fucked up
So let this gun bond us, let's side by this lust
And once we are just us, he'll know that he loves us

[chorus]
Let it all burn
I will burn first
God, I tried, am I lost in your eyes?
Just let me burn
It's what I deserve
God, I've lied, am I lost in your eyes?

[verse 2]
So take me and make me
Weaken and save me
This hate [that] you gave me
Keeps saying the same thing
To sing when you hurt, and to sing when you cry
To sing when you live, and to sing when you die
And here at the end, at the end of the hurt
All the pain ain't the same when it's your turn [to burn]
We're the heart for the heartless
The thoughts for the thoughtless
The lies for the [honest] (not liars)
We're the gods of the godless

[chorus]
Let it all burn
I will burn first
God, I tried, am I lost in your eyes?
Just let me burn
It's what I deserve
God, I've lied, am I lost in your eyes?

[verse 3]
So cry three tears for me
When it's all gone, sing me this song
So cry three tears for me
When it's all gone, when it's all gone
I can not stand who I am, I'm this man
With this blood on my hands, in this blood I am damned
So watch my wings burn as they burn in the fire
Don't scatter the ashes, no need for the choir

[chorus]
Let it all burn
I will burn first
God, I tried, am I lost in your eyes?
Just let me burn
It's what I deserve
God, I've lied, am I lost in your eyes?

I feel like the "God doesn't exist," and "God's a hypocrite," things are a little overplayed and a little out of place in reference to this song. If we look at this objectively, it's pretty simple to see that this is about conflicted nature within humans. Look at the album as a whole:

We get a wide palette of human emotion and action displayed on Swan Songs:

Self-indulgence, inebriation, intoxication, promiscuousness all throughout: "Everywhere I Go," "No. 5," "California,"Pimpin," "Bottle and a Gun," "Bitches," "No Other Place,"
Violence, fighting, Rebellion, murder, hatred, suicidal thoughts exhibited in "Sell Your Soul," "Undead" "The Loss," "City," "The Diary," "Black Dahlia," "Dead in Ditches," "Knife Called Lust"
Sadness, alienation, regret, "Young," "Black Dahlia," "The Diary"
Death and the Afterlife "This Love, This Hate,"

By the end of the album, "Paradise Lost" makes sense when you look at everything that has been covered. As was covered earlier, this song is clearly inspired by Milton's epic poem regarding Satan's fall from Heaven. The "character" in this particular song looks at the world that they've been handed and have in turn made for themselves. They then measure this against what God expects of humans, and grapples with a question of this world and its relation to God. Interesting to note, the identification with Satan here, is more of a symbol of alienation from God- a distance through being mortal, and through being weak, and through not being in paradise.

The singer begins as their last breath is leaving them, entering a final dialog with God expressing that they are struggling to be what He wants, but that the burdens of this world often become too great to carry and the struggle often is often debilitating, exacting a mental and physical toll. Surrounded by hatred and violence, lies, selfishness, addiction, and the myriad of other ailments which only serve to divide and to ebb happiness away, the singer struggles to maintain some sense of order, purpose and dignity. And yet still, they feel broken and incomplete, and alone.

The chorus sums up the point of this song- With everything that the singer is, with all that they have done, with all that is wrong in the world and its adverse effect on humans, are they lost? Is there no hope? Yet unlike Satan from Milton's poem, the character is clearly aware and repentant.

The character relents in the chorus, believing that they deserve whatever punishment they receive in the afterlife. Although in "This Love, This Hate," the sentiment is of a promising afterlife, it seems as thought he H.U. group is not without pause. With a defeated resolve, they ask to be allowed to burn, as it is what they have earned.

It's interesting to see such conflicting sides in a group, let alone an individual. It shows a great deal of maturity to handle both sides of an issue well. It also shows them as multi-dimensional group with no real agenda.

I'm also not sure where Johnny 3-Tears derives his name from, but based on the lyrical content of this song, it seems like a Biblical allusion to Peter's betrayal of Christ 3 times and his sorrow afterwards.

i don't know if anyone said this but, paradise lost is the name of a documentary about three teenagers who were found guilty of the murder of three young boys. they were charged, tried, convicted, and sentenced without a murder weapon, motive, or physical evidence to link them to the crime. Recent developments in the case have since all but proven them completely innocent in the murders, yet they remain in prison, with one on death row. many believe they are innocent, including the victims' parents, and were only targeted because of the way they dressed and the music they listened to. many artists have shown their support through their music. some of them include alkaline trio, pearl jam, the dixie chicks, and i believe hollywood undead. if you read about the case, the song seems to make sense.

i believe this song has a couple of diferent messages, on apersonal level the artist is wondering if god will hold his bitter cynasism against him since it is infact a byproduct of the harsh life that god inflicted on him.
and on global scale he's pionting out all the ugly things manking does to it's own, and saying that if god really cares than why all the suffering.
then good mesure it's all wrapped up in analogies from milton's paridise lost.
all together it a supreme work of art.

why should we blame everything on God? well humans are on earth passing an exam to finally meet him when we die, where we all gonna be judged! He gives us the freedom to do everything, you can follow the bible's sayings, or you can go kill, go on drugs, being a liar, beeing a racist.

Not beacause our lives aren't perfect that it is god's fault.

I think this song is talking about how God created us with these Strong desires(Which at least one point in life we will give into) to do Evil and then forsake us. Also, because we give into these uncontrolable desires, the writer of the song believes we deserve to burn for them(our actions).

"All the pain ain't the same when it's your turn"

Christians teach that God allows us to suffer because we deserve to for our actions.
This line is talking about how We do not deserve the pain we go through and how it would be different if God actually experienced the pain first hand.

Overall, this song covers so many different points that it doesn't really make any sense at all to have one meaning.

Verse 1 is obviously talking about how he feels God has abandoned him, and in doing so, is now suffering and wants to commit sucide and maybe that will give God a heads up that we need him.

I won't get into the pointless arguement of Religion on this topic. I'll just give my interpretation of what I think, as always.

The singer is singing out on a field, and his friends are in their house doing nothing, just thinking about life and religion. As the singer continues the song, the sky starts to cloud up and thunder. When the third verse starts, the singer's friends follow him as he walks to the top of hill. The singer screams to the sky, about how he has blood on his hands and is damned. Suddenly, as the chorus starts, lightning strikes the earth, barely missing the singer and his friends, proving that their is a higher power. The song ends with all of the band members looking up into the sky, amazed.

To me, this is a really passionate song, and it reminds me of how I used to feel when I thought about god.

"he gave us nothing but no trust"

I remember the inner turmoil I felt years ago, and how I felt a mix of longing, confusion, and hurt when I thought of this all-loving god who seemed so absent. No matter how many believers argue otherwise, I consider it doing nothing when good people suffer. And all for the sake of free will? Are we always supposed to feel like we messed up and deserve this, for this huge sin that all of us have to pay for yet none of us played a part in? And so we're given no trust, from the beginning. It's a terrible feeling.

I agree with a lot of the comments on here about 'god in a nutshell' etc.

And as much as I don't want to engage in any arguments, I can't help but point out, Lil Fitch - "Why should he have to clean up what our own race did? Not like we had to destroy this world, it's not his fault, why should he have to fix it?" - yes, because we all got together to create a giant hurricane.

This and Young changed my mind about HU.
I thought they were another stupid dime a dozen rap rock band.
Also I hate scene kids, so that doesn't help.
But they actually have some talent as song writers.

Its not up to God where you'll end up after you're dead. Its up to you and the things you do as a person and to others. Any religion is a decision made by its believer, I dont knock any of them. I love God and the things that happen in life arent up to us, I could pray all day and live the most honest life but still die tomorrow from a hemroid infection. But hey shit happens =] And atleast I know where Im going and I dont leave that up to God. Its my decision and Heaven's for me. Biitches.

After I ordered the album, I saw outside this one car and it said really big something else in the middle but it really fits the song. "Born to die - Live to fight." Doesn't that get tiring though?
Throughout the verses it's about the different sorts of pain we get (from breaking, hating, etc) just to get what we 'need' (life to continue suffering) or want (peace over dreams away).

:/ I'm probably wrong but I'm thinking: Paradise = Heaven ; Lost = No longer allowed to

The whole burning thing reminds me of going to hell for not being a complete angel yourself and asking all the 'why's in life instead of 'what's.

Usually last songs on albums suck and are left ignored, but this one stands out and just has to be heard. :)

i think its funny that people who do believe in god believe there oh so superior to those that dont. :)
christianity, or any other religion for that matter, are for idealistic and naive people, who want to believe theres someone watching over.

atheism - realistic.
theres no over all "force" that can look over us all. a single force couldnt have created a universe spanning infinitely.

Great song =) I love all their shit so much.

p.s. Lol I think it's funny when people don't believe in God just because their life isn't perfect.
mattehMONSTER, free will is the reason God doesn't step in. Why should he have to clean up what our own race did? Not like we had to destroy this world, it's not his fault, why should he have to fix it?

Amazing song, love it :-).

Only one thing to object about in the lyrics, where it says

"The lies for the liars" is it not:

"The lies for the honest"? I think it makes more sense.
