What's with all this doom and gloom?
You used to be such, such a laugh
It's only sin, original sin
Corinthians (15:22)
Never been a big fan of things
But I'm growing so fond of you

You get sadder the smarter you get
And it's a bore
You get sadder the smarter you get
And it's a bore

Truth is truth
I ain't no bohemian
Much too, much too safe
Much too, much too typical
Much too, much too typical
Much too, much too
You can use your hands for something else
I'll take you further than the scholars can
Put down your books and molest me
Heaven is here, where it needs to be

You get sadder the smarter you get
And it's a bore
You get sadder the smarter you get
And it's a bore

And there was a time before we were born
When we stood in the garden
If this world won't last I'll turn you on
Well, I've got enough for the both of us
The both of us
The both of us

And there was a time before we were born
When we stood in the garden
If this world does not turn you on
Well, I've got enough for the both of us
The both of us

Song Meaning:I really think it's about the blessing of ignorance or lack of knowledge in contrast to knowledge about the world TODAY

The mass tends to keep up a happy life without worrying about the daily problems of the world. But the more you read about actual problems in the world (wars, climatic change, catastrophes, etc) the sadder we may feel. Today, all this "doomporn" ist just depressing.

At least, this is one issue of this text.

General Comment:Although on second thoughts it could be the quick transition between "murmer" and to" that makes that "st" sound, so I'm still going with murmer...

General Comment:Oh lordy you lot have thrown me on that missing lyric since I've looked here. I was always under the impression it was "murmer to me" but since reading your responses and listening again I can definitely hear a "st" sound, so it could be "molest," puts that line onto another level...!

General Comment:I'm a Christian, and this song makes me laugh as I've heard it all from boyfriends trying to get me to have sex with them! But these song lyrics annoy me on that count, because I'm sure like me, abstaining from sex means a lot to his partner, and it's a moral choice, and he's saying that it's "boring" and it's clear all he's interested in is sex. If he wanted anything more from this person he wouldn't be saying these things. If I was in his position I would want them to be exactly who they are and like them no matter what their belief and preferences.

General Comment:really i just think the person he's trying to get with
is uptight, just too full of knowledge to really
enjoy life, and kele really wants to open this person
    up and enjoy themselves.

General Comment:"For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."

    That's Corinthians 15:22

    ANYWAY...

I think this song is basically saying that, according to the bible, everybody has commited original sin. The person in question is a priest/vicar which will lead into Kele's life as he was brought up in a strict catholic houshold (in liverpool. And who says the north is crap!!!)

I dunno though. Just a guess. It's a difficult one to make sense of
