A red priest broke into our classroom
Caught us children by attention
"Listen closely to the words I speak
Lord knows if we'll ever, ever again meet"

Spoke such words never spoken before
On the way he declared the war
Miracles like you never seen
From a man who was raised up in the sea

A man is coming in thirteen-one
To charm the daughters and the sons
Scared for our lives, I turned to your hand
Hold this tight while we run, if we still can

What disasters may come
Whatever it may be
At the end of the age
It will land you and me
What tragedy may bring
Whatever may fall
At the end of the world
You'll still belong

Before the red priest took his last breath
He told me, "Child, now don't forget
The sun will turn dark very soon
Your days are numbered when there's blood on the moon"

"The earth will shake and the sky will fall
The eyes will open of those enthralled
Don't take this sign, but you'll be killed
By the man from seven hills"

A man is coming in thirteen-one
To charm the daughters and the sons
Scared for our lives, I turned to your hands
Hold this tight while we run, if we still can

What disasters may come
Whatever it may be
At the end of the age
It will land you and me
What tragedy may bring
Whatever may fall
At the end of the world
You'll still belong

Look children to the eastern sky
When you hear the voice, say your last goodbyes
Look there to the eastern skies
When the ghosts take hold of the men who died
Look children to the eastern sky
When your fathers weep and your mothers cry
Look children to the eastern sky

What disasters may come
Whatever it may be
At the end of the age
It will land you and me
What tragedy may bring
Whatever may fall
At the end of the world
You'll still belong

Look children to the eastern sky
When you hear the voice, say your last goodbyes
Look there to the eastern skies
When the ghosts take hold of the men who died
Look children to the eastern sky
When your fathers weep and your mothers cry
Look children to the eastern sky
Look children to the eastern sky

General Comment:I liked ReverendJH's interpretation as it got me thinking out of the box. This leads me to contradict him in saying that I believe the "red priest" is the Bible as its generally red. Its very symbolic, but it could be his first day at a catholic school or something thus 'grabbing their attention'. The whole song is mostly (pseudo)quotes from the Bible as well.

General Comment:and, aside from "A red priest broke into our classroom Caught us children by attention" and "Before the red priest took his last breath He told me,", the whole song is the words of the Red Priest

My Interpretation:The man from seven hills.. Pope.. if you think about it, when the time comes, a logical choice for the bibles anti Christ is the pope himself.. no matter who you are or what religion you are, you respect the pope. other than that i agree with bustin

General Comment:It seems strange that Jesus is referred to as "a red priest" or "the red priest" when that was the nickname given to the baroque composer named Antonio Vivaldi. He was a priest with fiery red hair, hence the nickname so I'm not sure what the whole red priest deal is with this song. Any ideas?

My Interpretation:The look at all the prophecy from Revelations as related to this song is correct. That was Anberlin's goal with the song.

The one miss that no one has correctly deciphered from the song is the Red Priest. Lots of varying opinions about who the Red Priest is in the song.

The Red Priest is actually the apostle John, who wrote Revelations. John is often depicted in art work as a red head, such as in The Last Supper by Da Vinci. Therefore, he is the Red Priest.

My Opinion:These are great interpretations. Though one thing I noticed is that everyone is connecting "seven hills" to the seven heads of the beast. This doesn't quite make sense. Think about it, "You'll be killed by the man from the seven heads of the beast." I doubt the man and the beast are the same, unless of course the beast is discriptor of the man's character.

Yet perhaps these seven hills are the seven hills of the original villages of Rome, In which case they'd be referring to a man from Rome. This would work because the most strict Christian persecuters were Romans.

Also, it is not wise to think literal when discussing the Bible. Especially when the subject is that of things that have not yet come to pass. The future alone is a delicate subject, and it is even far more when we include the Word of the Lord.

I don't know if anyone actually comments here anymore, but I threw in my bit anyway.

General Comment:3ncryption, I actually disagree with you on what you think 13:1 is.
13:1 actually reffers to the text in the Bible in the book of Revelations:

Revelations 13:1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads. On his horns were ten crowns, and on his heads, blasphemous names.

The man he talks about is the beast that will give you the "sign" (666) which becomes mentioned later in the song.
