Lyrics for Nothing Ever Happened as interpreted by life_aint_chess

Nothing Ever Happened Lyrics
Only when I dream but there's no way out
You learn to talk, you learn to shout
Focus on depth that was never there
Eliminate what you can't repair

Nothing ever happened to me
Nothing ever happened to me
Nothing ever happened to me
Life just passing, flash right thru me

See thru the wind to awakened stream
Adjust yr eyes to the state of things
Focus on depths that was never there
Nothing's easy nothing's fair

Nothing ever happened to me
Nothing ever happened to me
Nothing ever happened to me
Life just passing, flash right thru me

I never, saw it coming
waiting for something, for nothing
I never, saw it coming
waiting for something, for nothing

The beginning of the second stanza definitely is:

"sleep through the winter, awake in spring
adjust your eyes to the state of things..."

phenomenal song

I totally agree with the comment about the bass part, it's just great.

I guess the version of the mack truck makes sense.

for me it's about awaking from things that you thought had happened, but then you realize it was just a "dream", it was just supposed to be, so as you yourself. hence, nothing happened to me, in terms of i didn't happen because i wasn't possible, just a dream.

Best song on Microcastles hands down. I love it in the beginning when the bass changes, awesomeness!! Anyway I think this song is about trying to get a grasp of the fact that we are never truly in control of our lives things just happen to us as we move forward in life even if those things seem like nothing. The first and last lines says it all. Only when I dream but there's no way out, waiting for something, for nothing. Such an amazing song.

Bradford said that when he wrote this song he had in mind a woman who has kids, gets left by her husband, raises the kids as best she can, they grow to resent her and dont talk to her, she works a crappy job at wal-mart, and one day gets hit by a mack truck and dies. Hence, "Nothing ever happened to me".

This song seems to be about perception and development. He seems to be describing general experiences children endure as they learn to...well, learn. I feel another theme of this song is that life goes by so quickly, light flashes through us so fast, it's as if nothing happened at all.

I hear "Eliminate what you can't repair" not the lemonade thing.
