She walks to the mailbox each morning at nine
Every day she begins she's always one day behind
At least when it comes to the mail
She sits on the balcony paying the bills
Her letters just hashing her cigarettes onto the sill
Every breath a little more pale
And the hill's still left to climb
It's just so
High
And I'm so
Tired
Come on look me in my bloodshot eyes
The clouds are all on
Fire
It's just so
High
And I'm so
Tired
Come on look me in my bloodshot eyes
The clouds are all on
Sits in his basement from midnight 'til four
Painting pictures that nobody sees from his days in the war
The canvas is painted bright red, red
He heats up the shower, he paces the hall
He'll scrub for an hour or more but he won't get it all
The paint in his fingernail beds
The hill's still left to climb
It's just so
High
And I'm so
Tired
Come on look me in my bloodshot eyes
The clouds are all on
Fire
It's just so
High
And I'm so
Tired
Come on look up at the bloodshot sky
The clouds are all on
Fire
The clouds are all on
Fire
The clouds are all on
We wait in valleys whiles the clouds come in
We see no shadows, 'cause the shadow's all there is
And we climb,
And we climb
But it's just so
High
And I'm so
Tired
Come on look me in my bloodshot eyes
The clouds are all on
Fire
It's just so
High
And I'm so
Tired
Come on look up at the bloodshot sky
The clouds are all on
Fire
The clouds are all on
Fire
The clouds are all on
The clouds are all on

The clouds are all on

Everyone has challenges in life, and climbing the hill is obviously about getting over those challenges. People will be daunted by how high the hill looks and how tired they become.
With Andrew, his challenge was cancer, and he was told that he just might die, so obviously the hill he had to climb was huge. This challenge made him tired emotionally, but also physically because you do not get much sleep in a hospital.
he is tiered of touring they have been touring non-stop since 2005 and he knows that they are getting
bigger and bigger as the year goes on and he is also talking about were his insperation is and that is the
sunset andrew is a big fan of the sun and the sky and the bloodshot skys is saying he is looking at the sunset
or the sunrise and he is tiered cause he clearly hasent slept
he also states at one point in the song "and we climb, and we climb and we climb Hiiiger" he is saying
they have finally become a big band

The paint in his fingernail beds"
The paint here is a metaphor for blood. As someone said earlier, he paints the canvas red because of all the blood and carnage he saw. When he scrubs his hands, but can't get it out of his fingernail beds, it's referring to his attempt to get the blood off his hands, to redeem himself from the lives he's taken. But he can't forget, so the "paint" stays, no matter how long he washes.
