Lyrics for Two Weeks as interpreted by Hijinx82

Two Weeks Lyrics
Save up all the days
A routine malaise
Just like yesterday
I told you I would stay

Would you always
Maybe sometimes
Make it easy
Take your time

Think of all the ways
Momentary phase
Just like yesterday
I told you I would stay

Every time you try
Quarter half the mile
Just like yesterday
I told you I would stay

Would you always
Maybe sometimes
Make it easy
Take your time

Letterman debut of this song was amazing. They sounded phenomenal. I don't care how "sunny" this new album is supposed to sound. This one as well as "While You Wait For The Others" are showing great maturity in their sound.

I have to point out that the lyric is "a routine malaise," not "routine relays." I think that's one of the coolest turns of phrase I've heard in a long time. how do we get that corrected, it's such a brilliant lyric, it needs to be amended.

See the pall of day, a routine malaise.
Just like yesterday, I told you I would stay.

Would you always, maybe sometimes
Make it easy, take your time

Think of all the ways, momentary phase
Just like yesterday, I told you I would stay.

Every time you try; quarter; half a mile.
Just like yesterday, I told you I would stay.

Would you always, maybe sometimes
Make it easy, take your time

Would you always, maybe sometime
Make it easy, take your time

Always;

Sometimes;

Easy;

Time

I think this is about a relationship that isn't going that well, maybe a clingy partner? Like he's thinking about it and the more he mulls over it, he's kind of over it...and "Two Weeks" makes me think of quitting so...? I don't know, any thoughts on that?

Regardless... This song just sucks you in and doesn't give you back. I love it so much.

This song is exactly the same as "Still D.R.E." by Dr. Dre, I wonder if the band knows that? When they find out they're gonna be pissed.

the resemblance is passing. there lots of songs that have this kinda vampy keyboard line coz it has a good rhythm.I dont really care if they sound similar coz i dont think it plagerism. like the yeah yeah yeahs song heads will role sound like PIL's this is not a love song so stuff like that happens. Im sure you'll live...

I don’t want to get into a “is hip hop really original music” argument/discussion with anyone here but these guys created a fucking great song. Especially the lyrics, I hate songs that have to spell it all out for you…they also played their own instruments! Hardly ever have I seen anything outside of samplers and turntables at a hip hop recording session. Ya just can’t write off this track because it sound like Still D.R.E., ‘cause Still D.R.E. sounds like a hundred other songs…better songs!

I like these lyrics quite a bit. Especially that it feels like whoever this is is having the same conversation over and over. In my opinion, it's a couple, and someone in the relationship needs to feel reassured, so they keep asking the questions:

Would you always
Maybe sometimes
Make it easy
Take your time

Whoever they're talking to clearly doesn't have the answer about how committed they are, hence "Take your time."

I think every line is pretty much a truncated version of a conversation you have with someone when you are in a bad relationship. For example, "Think of all the ways… you don't respect my feelings;" or "Every time you try… you mess things up." And they keep repeating, because people tend to say the same things over and over. Maybe every other stanza is a rebuttal? Not sure.

Just a guess, but it fits pretty well.

When Ed sings "I told you I would stay" it sounds exactly like he is saying "I told you I was gay," which is funny, because he IS gay!

The Still Dre comments are ridiculous. You think they would rip off such a popular song? being as they are just doing their thing and making music that makes them happy? Also any one that says "hella" probably really does not listen to this kind of music. Not being a snob, just saying. And what the hell is Sweetlips talking about? "lyrics are pretty awful"? Seriously?

This song is great. Not my most favorite by them (but very close). But it is great.

Could this song have anything to do with the "two week ignore"? This is a game guys play where they first delete the gal from facebook/online communication and then flat out ignore her for two weeks. They do this knowing it will drive the lady absolutely batty and closer, but also to push them away. It's a way of roping in a vulnerable young girl so that she will be a permanent fuck buddy and he will have the upper hand.

I think it's probably about a relationship where one person has to reassure their partner constantly. "just like yesterday, I told you I would stay" There's probably more to it though.

Well I'd say it's definitely... a single. It's very very accessible. I really like it though, this whole album is incredibly well thought out and well put together.

I definitely agree that this song is about some sort of disfunctional relationship. It's so painfully uncertain.

I agree that this song is incredibly brilliant, and that not every song needs to spoon-feed the meaning to the listener. Again, amazing song, amazing lyrics.
