    General Comment:This was originally recorded by Taylor Swift for the AT&T Team USA Soundtrack, an album featuring exclusive recordings by A-list artists created to support the American team in the 2008 Summer Olympics.


    This song was featured as the background music to the daily TV montage of the Olympic highlights, shown at the end of the show.


    Swift told CMT Country Countdown that she wrote this song "about being on a small record label and being a 16 year-old girl and having a lot of odds against all of us." She added that she finished it after winning the Horizon Award at the CMA awards in November 2007 as she knew "she couldn't finish it until something like that happened." Swift concluded that it is "interesting how you can apply the lyrics to the Olympics and to someone who got beat a few times and is really hoping things will change."


    This song became Swift's first single to reach the Top 10 of the Hot 100.

    My Opinion:This is such an empowering song. From seeing people struggle to start a business or protesting with the Occupy movement, from fighting for social, environmental and economic justice to combating stereotypes and achieving milestones in education, it's about overcoming obstacles and working so hard for the change you want to see in the world.

    Song Meaning:I think this song is about like maybe a team. When I listen to this song I think of my Genies en herbe Team. Genies en Herbe is like this thing where you compete against other teams by buzzing a buzzer and answering Trivia questions. Its kinda like Jepoardy or Family Feud. But anyways, our team isnt the best, but we dont give up, and thats all that matters, right? Not giving up? Thats what this songs about. And recently, our Team won 1st place at the HUGE tournament. Its cuz we never gave up :)

    General Comment:It's about walls coming down, but for some they never do. They can't. It's simply too large of a risk. And it's scary. It's felt as a threat. Good song.

    Song Meaning:This song for Taylor is about her record label, but it doesn't have to be just about that for everyone. That's what's so great about Taylor- she can write a song and you can fit it into whatever situation you're in. This song is about for one thing, having hope and faith in something. Having hope, faith, determination, and never giving up on something you need or want is what this song is about. It's about never giving up on something you can't live without, no matter how hard it is or how long it takes to get there. I think this song was written to give people hope and to day "follow your dreams and never, ever let go." In the end, it says that they got what they wanted because they never gave in. She's basically saying that if you keep your mind on what you need and go for it, you're going to win in the end, even if it wasn't what you wanted in the end. Everything happens for a reason, even if you don't know it right away. But never give up or lose hope.
