Let's clap our hands
for the president
and Jesus Christ
and did I mention Charlie Manson
and everybody else who was nice?
Let's sing a song
for the people scared
searching in the...
if you search real hard, you'll see that...
I'll be there
Shooting up your world
Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground
Yeah, I'll be there
Shooting up your world
Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground
Let's do high five
for a genocide
and the Internet
and all the communication skills
that are lost when we are dead
You'll never survive
Three thousand five
while you'll be sinking in the ocean
I'll be in my special, still alive...
Shooting up your world
Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground
Yeah, I'll be there
Shooting up your world
Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground
Yeah, I'll be there
Shooting up your world
Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground
Yeah, I'll be there
Shooting up your world
Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground
Let's clap our hands
for the president
and Mickey Mouse
and every other motherfucker
that's burnin' up in this house
for the president
and Jesus Christ
and did I mention Charlie Manson
and everybody else who was nice?
Let's sing a song
for the people scared
searching in the...
if you search real hard, you'll see that...
I'll be there
Shooting up your world
Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground
Yeah, I'll be there
Shooting up your world
Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground
Let's do high five
for a genocide
and the Internet
and all the communication skills
that are lost when we are dead
You'll never survive
Three thousand five
while you'll be sinking in the ocean
I'll be in my special, still alive...
Shooting up your world
Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground
Yeah, I'll be there
Shooting up your world
Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground
Yeah, I'll be there
Shooting up your world
Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground
Yeah, I'll be there
Shooting up your world
Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground
Let's clap our hands
for the president

The sun/son is currently shifting from the zodiac sign Pisces *the fish* into the sign of Aquarius. The Fish is a famous symbol that represents Christ. We have all seen the bumper stickers. I Love how Daron correlates the sun/son together, especially in his System performances. He would often go onstage with Egyptian eyeliner (representing the SUN god) and he would wear a priest like shirt at the same time. Sun=Son. Daron is brilliant, you have to remember that when interpreting lyrics. He wont come out and say this is about this, he wants you to connect the dots.
The ending of the age of Pisces signifies the end of Christ. We will then shift into a higher level of consciousness, and our current religious and spiritual views (mainly patriarchal monotheistic religions that wage violent wars against other religions and against human minds) will have to be updated with this new evolution of thinking. Christianity will die out because it is no longer relevant to our train of thought.
Now, in order for Christianity die, the prophecy must be fulfilled. If Christianity is the one true religion, Jesus will return, along with the Antichrist, and on comes the Rapture. Now Rapture, thats a funny word, funny because it was never mentioned in the Bible. The Rapture is a metaphor for Spiritual Enlightenment/Ascension. It is the battle between good and evil. Ascension is the transformation into a higher level of thinking, something 99% of Christians will not acchieve because their minds have been so polluted by fear.
"Resurrection junkies" speaks for itself. This is the religious Right and the other 99% of Christians who are nothing like their Christ. They dont stand a chance in hell with spiritual enlightenment.
"I'll be there, Shooting up your world, watching all you resurrection junkies losing ground".
He is addressing the once self righteous Christians who have to face the reality that they were wrong, that their Christ did not return for them at the End of Days (Pisces) but the more ancient of prophecies, that came from the "pagan' and in particular Native American teachings, did come true. Its an 'in your face' insult, as many of the indigenous cultures were wiped out by bloody genocides brought on by the Christians themselves. Whether Daron is there spiritually or whatever, in 1000 years, the 2012 prophecy will still remain edged in stone while the bible will have been proven OBSOLETE.
"The Internet and all the communication skills that are lost when we are dead"
Our communication skills rely on a grid of satellites. What happens when a solar storm (wipes out that grid? 90% of Americans alone will die. You have adults who cannot tell when it is 3pm by the position of the sun. Many are too reliant on technology and will not be able to survive the coming earth changes (sinking in the ocean, even if you dont sink in the actual ocean, you have to find food without a grocery store).
"You’ll never survive 3005, while you’ll be sinking in the ocean, I’ll be in my spaceship still alive".
This is blatant reference to the end days, end of time, end of Pisces. With the ending of such a cycle of time always comes planetary disaster. It is the only way to cleanse the earth of her parasites. It is a new beginning. Daron's spaceship could quite possibly represent his spiritual essence that is above the earths atmosphere admiring the ending of an astronomical cycle that his ancestors predicted. Or it could mean what it says (it is so hard to interpret Daron's writings). The conscious shift could open up humanity's doorway to extraterrestrial or multidimensional travel. Its not gonna happen on this level. What alien species would want to make contact with a humanity that wages war/genocides over who's God is more peaceful?
To add, "Let's clap our hands, for the president and Jesus Christ and did I mention Charlie Manson
and everybody else who was nice?" must be an observation on how easily people are fooled, no matter what their intentions may be. The President is the President, they dont get the job if they are decent, they prove every 4/8 years that they suck. Why do we continue to clap our hands behind blind party loyalty when there is obvious that the ruling 2 party system is the problem? Jesus Christ, yet another example of blind loyalty, no matter the body count. Charli Manson a cult leader ties into religious leaders and political leaders, they are all one and the same. They all deceive us on one level or another. They want to make you believe that you cannot possibly save yourself (well, this is not jesus's message, but its the message his followers preach). They keep us fearful so we cant spiritually advance. Its a form of devolution.
The Micky Mouse reference is HUGE if you are familiar with the entertainment/music/media/porn industries. I think it is a reference to mind control.Hollywood, where Daron was born and raised. What is Hollywood, where did the name come from? It came from the words Holly Wood, used to make wands in witchcraft. Holly Wood is used to cast spells over people. Who owns Hollywood? Micky Mouse. Has anybody watched the Disney Channel lately? Little girls all sexed up. Daron sings about this in the song FUCKING "In this world of make believe your children are sexualized. Not so pretty you and me. Armageddon come alive" yet another reference to the End of Days. The song is about how the mainstream media fucks with us, tells us lies, sells us wars against innocent people... and we hang on lovely news lady's every word all while our children are victims of predators by our own behavior..us adults shape society. We have a pretty sick one right now.
Any way on to the lyrics.
Verse 1
-------
Let's clap our hands <----------------Let us celebrate how shit the world has become.
for the PRESENT DAY. <----------------Now
and Jesus Christ <--------------------Hero
and did I mention Charlie Manson<-----Anti-Hero
and everybody else who was nice?<-----Be careful who you trust bad people are often nice.
--This first Verse Sets the scene in the present day.
--It is written to sound like a Christian song you might hear around a campfire, but in a sarcastic tone.
--The reason for mentioning Jesus Christ(Hero) and Manson(Anti Hero) is because this shows us how we as humans trust people too easily, (especially if religious beliefs are involved). We need to be more careful in who we follow, as there are a lot of screamingly nice people out there.
Verse 2
-------
Let's sing a song<------------------------------Try a new approach
for the people scared<--------------------------People loosing Faith
searching in the AIR<---------------------------He says AIR!!!!! (Ie. Looking up)
if you search real hard, you'll see that...-----If you Believe
--This implies the church needs to change it's methods of connecting with people and people are turning away from the church.
Chorus
------
I'll be there <---------------------------------------Like always
Shooting up your world<-------------------------------Being blamed for peoples tragedy (acts of God)
Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground<--Watching traditional religion slowly dying.
-- The Chorus implies a level of frustration from god. He say "I'll be there" (like always)
-- "Shooting up your world" (taking the blame for the worlds problems)
-- As religion becomes less popular.
Verse 3
-------
Let's do high five<-------------------Again Let us celebrate how shit the world has become.
for a genocide<-----------------------Non specific Genocide(So many take your pick)
and the Internet<---------------------What the people think is the greatest creation by man ever.
and all the communication skills<-----All the ways technology allows us to contact each other (eg text ----------------------------------------messages, twitter etc.
that are lost when we are dead<-------There is no twitter or facebook in heaven.
---This verse is a bleak representation of current times, People no longer seem to care about serious issues as they are to busy using technology like social networking sites to communicate. It asks the question what are you going to do when there is no technology.
Verse 4
-------
You'll never survive<---------------------------We are doomed if we continue along this path
Three thousand five<----------------------------Maybe not in our life, but soon enough
while you'll be sinking in the ocean<-----------Only we will be to blame for the end of humanity
I'll be in my spaceship, still alive...<--------God will still be there even after our demise
---This verse implies, The problems with this world are caused by humanity.
---If we continue like this our world has a limited amount of time left.
---God can't fix the world it is up to us, he plays only an observational role.
Verse 5
-------
Let's clap our hands<---------------------Let us celebrate how shit the world has become.
for the president<------------------------George W. Bush
and Mickey Mouse<-------------------------Cartoon Mouse
and every other motherfucker
that's burnin' up in this house<----------Typical Stupid, Ignorant, and self absorbed Person
------------------------------------------That makes up the majority of the world's population.
---This verse is similar to the first except the comparison this time is between George W. and Mickey Mouse, (Too characters with similar intelligence).
i think the spaceship line is more a metaphor about how this planet is going to be ****ed up in the next 1000 years or so, hence the title, rather than aliens or a rip on Scientology. and that the only way to survive is if we head to space. im almost certain when he says "while you'll be sinking in the ocean, I'll be in my spaceship, still alive..." hes referring to someone watching earth be torn up by those who stayed behind, warring with each other, cuz thats what we do.
Let's clap our hands
for the president
and Jesus Christ
and did I mention Charlie Manson
and everybody else who was nice?
Same thing with this quote:
Let's do high five
for a genocide
and the Internet
and all the communication skills
that are lost when we are dead
In 3005, a genocide would be looked upon as something as meager as the internet and things like facebook or myspace, where genocide should be feared and fought.
The band members have spoken out about the Armenian Genocide for years and even got Obama to promise to try to get the Turkish government to recognize it, now he folds on that promise...even though the Armenian Genocide is way worse than what we see in Darfur today...and the Armenian Genocide didn't happen too long ago... So I think Scars believes that we are headed to "3005" already... Oh well
I am not a fan of looking for meaning in songs (as most artists make just lyrics that sound pretty cool not thinking about meaning) but i shall make an exception here. With some one like Daron I really shouldn't make this exception as to get into his mind experimental brain surgery is required so im sure im doomed to failure.
To a certain extent this song is scatter shot. You can pick and choose what you will take from it. But for me there is 1 main theme and 2 very slight undertones. First the religion is the main theme and the government and environment are slight undertones. But take whatever you want for this song, that is what it is all about, thinking and deciding for yourself. I do not claim that I am correct, this is what I take away from the song.
"Let's clap our hands
for the president
and Jesus Christ
and did I mention Charlie Manson
and everybody else who was nice?"
Clearly a remark that that the president (government) and jesus (religion) are at Mansons level of niceness. I know Daron has stated he is interested in manson. However He disagrees with the killings to my knowledge even if he seems to agree with manson stance on the environment. But here we see the emergance of our 3 themes. Manson reprisents the environment. president the government and jesus religion perhaps christianity in mainly.
"Let's sing a song
for the people scared
searching in the...(air <--- i believe this is missing unless im hearing wrong)
if you search real hard, you'll see that... (I'll be there <--- it is said straight after, there is no break so il be counting it as part of this verse)"
Here things get vague, "searching in the air" "I'l be there" seems to suggest god, I find this likely because of the earlier referance to jesus. This means he will be singing from the position of god. In light of this "sing a song" and " for the people scared" to me suggests that he is singing this song for the people searching for god and who are scared about not finding him. Also I would include all god believers (for reasons coming from the rest of the song)
"I'll be there
Shooting up your world
Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground"
"Ill be there"
Refering to himself as god
"Shooting up your world"
Because of earlier themes i take this to mean, religion as sort of a drug, like you shoot up on drugs (I think it is a mistake to see this as meaning violence as I cannot see any referances to violence prior to this, although as i said to a certain extent this song is scatter shot), as in it is addictive.
"Watching all the resurrection junkies losing ground"
I believe resurrection junkies means christians. According to the bible Jesus got resurrected, this is centeral the christian belief. Losing ground I believe means that he believes that the christian faith is losing ground to other ideas perhaps atheism perhaps other religions, more likely i think he means losing ground to science (things later in the song provide my reasons). This is why I said god believers in general, because of this verse.
So I believe this verse means religion is drug provided by god which is losing ground to science.
"Let's do high five
for a genocide
and the Internet
and all the communication skills
that are lost when we are dead"
Now here genocide could refer to those that are committed by governments, but rather I think it refers to those committed in the name of religions because of previous themes. Maybe the armenian genocide, it seems likely to me based on causes System of a down supported. Genocide and the internet seem to be compared here, likely meaning there is alot of bulls**t on the internet on these subjects but also he seems to be in favor of real communication (not the bulls**t found on the internet) over violence, possibly meaning we should talk about these matters as once we resort to violence communication is no longer an option as "we are dead"
So this verse seems to say violence is not the answer but rather we should hold real meaningfull discussions to prevent violence relating to these topics.
"You'll never survive
Three thousand five
while you'll be sinking in the ocean
I'll be in my spaceship, still alive..."
Here is why I said i think he means religion is losing ground to science, based on previous themes I think he is refering to some Christians and indeed some people in religions as a whole rejecting science e.g. evolution and stem cell research. Spaceship is a symbol of scientific achievement. There are environmental undertones here aswell but I do not think they are that important because it is the first time they come up and they are lacking from the rest of the song. Rather I think this is a comment on the rejection of science. Science has helped us develop this far it seems silly to abandon it for religion with how much it can help us achieve, e.g. surviving environmental disasters. "Sinking in the ocean" could refer to reversing the evolution processes as the oceans is where we come from according to evolution, so he could be saying religion will take our civilisation backwards while science will advance us to "spaceships" and to "staying alive".
So this verse says science is the way forward we should drop religion if we wish to advance.
"Let's clap our hands
for the president
and Mickey Mouse
and every other motherfucker
that's burnin' up in this house "
Finally this is a simple comment on hell i think, i think this because of "burning up in this house". If mickey mouse is going to hell who isn't? Everyone from the president (not nice from the first verse) to mickey mouse (the embodiment of nice) is going to hell. Also "lets clap our hands" suggests defying religion is a good thing, it is a good thing to condem yourself to hell as religion is not the answer according to this song. I do not believe the "lets clap our hands" is sarcastic in this verse because of the lack of the question like there is in the first verse.
*SUMMARY*
I believe this song is critising religion for holding us back as a species, it is about science being the way forward for us and religion is holding us back. There are themes are religion being a drug of sorts, its adictive. Another theme is communication is preferable to violence and that meaningfull discussions must take place to avoid religious violence as after we are dead or there is violence communication becomes impossible.
More importantly think about what this song means yourself, this is but my simple interpratation, im honored if you agree but if you don't feel free to tell me why.
I wouldnt think in a million years that Daron (or any other SOAD member) would write a song about how science should take the place over God. These guys are very spiritually in tune with themselves and they seem pretty against modern technology and the human costs of globalization. I regard SOAD as band who sings directly to human spirituality, its im obsessed with them. I actually became a fan while I was an atheist, and as my personal observations about the world around me changed, their music seemed more fitting.
