  General Comment:Oh and to add to my post above...I have a comment about the "Mercury in retrograde" part. I think its comparing planet Earth/the nation of America to Mercury, and Amercia/the world seems to be going back in time with certain method. History repeats itself sort of thing.

  General Comment:In a way I think this song is about the American recession, even though it was written before the recession was really made public.
  
  This is not the time, the time to start a new love
  [meaning that now isnt a good time to fall in love because you "technically" cant afford it]
  This is not the time, the time to sign a lease
  [sort of obvious in relation to the recession]
  Try not to worry about what's forgotten
  [America is so busy worrying about their own problems that they dont see that other places are worse, and force themselves not to remember those people]
  Try not to worry about what's been missed
  [America is wondering where they went wrong to cause the recession]

  General Comment:oh and to add what i said before, trojan horse is talking about a past love too.
  I also agree with emerlyy's idea of the actual planet mercury being in retrograde relating to how the narator feels.

  General Comment:honestly, this is my favorite song on the album. i don't see why fans have a problem with it.
  And I completely disagree with most of you on the meaning. I feel like the album Intimacy has a lot to do with, well, intimacy. This song as well as One Month Off has a reference to a girl being in L.A., maybe a former love? And "this is not a time to start a new love". I feel like the narrator or whoever is speaking is maybe reeling from a past break up. The concept of falling in love is prevalent throughout the whole album.
