But basically, he's like, 'i don't care what they say, i've already lost control of what i'm feeling... I'm so happy that I've made it this far that I'm not going to be upset or scared if it ends'

I really like the secondary vocals too. It adds a lot to the song.
Sounds like its then end of a long meaningful relationship that the writer was in. And he just wants to get away from everything, kind of like getting a fresh start somewhere else trying to forget everything that he would be leaving back home.
I can relate to it so much.
It fills me up with so much hope.
