You gotta help me out
It's all a blur last night
We need a taxi 'cause you're hung-over and I'm broke
I lost my fake id but you lost the motel key
Spare me your freakin' dirty looks
Now don't blame me
You roll the cash out
And get the hell out of town

Don't be a baby
Remember what you told me
Shut up and put your money where your mouth is
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas
Get up and shake the glitter off your clothes, now
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas

Why are these lights so bright
Oh, did we get hitched last night, dressed up like Elvis,
Why, am I wearing your class ring?
Don't call your mother
Cause now we're partners in crime

Don't be a baby
Remember what you told me
Shut up and put your money where your mouth is
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas
Get up and shake the glitter off your clothes, now
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas

You got me into this
Information overload, situation lost control
Send out an S.O.S.
And get some cash out
We're gonna tear up the town

Don't be a baby
Remember what you told me
Remember what you told me
Remember what you told me
Told me, you told me, you told me
Shut up and put your money where your mouth is
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas

Get up and shake the glitter off your clothes, now
That's what you get for waking up in Vegas
That's what you get baby, shake the glitter, shake, shake, shake the glitter
Give me some cash out, baby
Give me some cash out, baby

i think its about a high school couple who goes to vegas without their parents permission and get into trouble.. hah. i love this song though. veryy catchy. ive been singing it all day.

"I lost my fake I'd but you lost the motel key" this line makes me think theyre young; cuz katy doesnt need a fake id now.

"And why am I wearing your class ring? Don't call your mother" also class ring - high school and mother; well how many grown men would honestly call their mother when their hungover drunk in vegas? just my opinion

    My Opinion

this song is about a couple where the boy is blaming the girl because they lost all threre money but when went to vegas she had her douts about it but he was all happy and cocky with it and now that she,s winning he's angry with her so she's telling him to suck it up

I feel like this song is about 2 things: -A loss of fame; defamed (this is more supported by the music video) -Young Adults (maybe fresh outta highschool) who were way in over their heads and fucked it all up in vegas.

Catchy song, would do well on the radio. I think that the original version of it is better than the album version though, the album one's music is too quiet in the chorus.

i think its got a way more deeper meaning than hooking up at vegas, though. i think its like, they're both lost in a relationship and hes blaming it all on her. hence; thats what you get for waking up in vegas" and stuff xD

i love this song. it's so catchy. =] katy perry is an awesome singer and songwriter. she doesn't sing about things that normal bands sing about, so it's a nice change.

    Song Meaning

i think its pretty straight-forward what its about, the lyrics are very literal. to me its about her her boyfriend who got one drunk one night and took a split decision to go to vegas. They obviously had a good time until they passed out, woke up and realised they have no money to get home, no hotel room, no transport and might possibly have gotten married as shes wearing his ring. Now he's giving her dirty looks and blaming her and shes insisting its not her fault as they're both in this mess togther which is why she doesnt let him call his mother because they would get into trouble.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
