  General Comment:People reading into it too much. This song is about The Terminator.

  This is pretty obvious as the entire Terminator film is based on time travel and destiny.

  A statement about war and humanity. How we built the machines to kill ourselves.

  / / you're reacting just the way I thought you would
  
  Arnold being really bad-ass with his sunglasses and shit. Knowing Sarah Connor and her behavior from information from the future and his being able to anticipate her actions.

  / / and I'm working just fine, but I can't get it to start
  
  Being mechanical, and while having the equivalent of a heart, lacking the emotions that are associated with having one.

  I don't think I need to explain these lines at all.

  The Terminator obviously has never had a conscious, and never will know what it's like to have one. He's content with his mission.

  / / and it looks like they want it back
  
  The machines want to terminate the humans and start a new era.
  
  The song obviously has some deeper meaning attached to it, but they're using terminator as a metaphor/the context for their ideas.

  General Comment:Raw and enlightening. The title will throw you off, no doubt about that, as will the line "just tell me who's mother I have to kill," but the song is a reflection of life. The "wolves" are humans, and though we sometimes we do not realize it, the actions, perception, and beliefs that we hold against other people and that are attributed by harsh opinion and brutal misconception, in the end, tear us apart morally. We plot against one another, sometimes in harmless gossip or in full-blown world wars, and this leads to self-destruction because as one goes down, we all go down. "We're living on borrowed time" is common sense: our lives are too short to begin with and to not utilize the time we have on Earth is a waste. "And it looks like they want it back" is a reference to death, when (depending on your beliefs) we die and "meet our maker".

    I'm guessing it's about the human condition in the modern age- 'we're machines that eat and breathe and look really cool', how processed and repetitious life has become- 'everything you do is planned out in advance, the stars push their dark wills down on you.' There's some Terminator references in there too, I think he's comparing the state of the world to the cold, machine-dominated future from the film, and if he could just go back in time and kill Sarah Conner, it would all be ok. It's a beautiful song, the part at the end when the distortion fades out and it's just clean strumming for the rest of the song is really pretty.
