When I was young I used to sleep out in the garden, Wait to sneak in when the house grew quiet. Now that I'm grown I can't seem to find you there. There is no tall, tall grass for me to hide in. When there wasn't anywhere for me to go, Oh, I stumbled into deep love with your rock and roll. When there wasn't anywhere for me to go, Oh, I stumbled into deep love with your rock and roll. I can't believe that we were ever friends at all. I didn't see it. Can you forgive me? I've been scared to say I lined them up to fall, And I want to change. When there wasn't anywhere for me to go, Oh, I stumbled into deep love with your rock and roll. When there wasn't anywhere for me to go, Oh, I stumbled into deep love with your rock and roll. When there wasn't anywhere for me to go, Oh, I stumbled into deep love with your rock and roll. When there wasn't anywhere for me to go, Oh, I stumbled into deep love with your rock and roll. The world outside seems to be glowing Like a heart beating. The snow will cover everything.

General Comment:neely didn't write this song.
"We'd been working on that song since we started as a band," Pressnall said. "Jamie wrote the verse, I wrote the chorus, Nick wrote the bridge. It has been with us as long as the band has been together. Our entire history is inside that song."

General Comment:Disregard that last comment, now it doesn't seem that way to me. The do have the same beginning chord and the tiniest bit similar of a strumming pattern, but now I don't hear them as being so similar.

General Comment:Does anyone notice the similarities between the beginning of A Perfect Sonnet and Tall Tall Grass? Similar chords and strumming patterns are used in the intros. Also that song could have been about Neely. Plus both songs have some of that innocence theme. I know those are common themes among both bands but I wanted to bring it to attention. This song shares similarities to other BE songs as others have already stated. Maybe it is just a coincidence and A Perfect Sonnet was not even being thought of when Tall Tall Grass was written.

I had a playlist going in iTunes and when the beginning of Tall Tall Grass started I thought "I didn't put A Perfect Sonnet in there.." and then realized. I had to listen to A Perfect Sonnet, I know they don't sound all that similar but I haven't listened to A Perfect Sonnet in probably a year, so it may be hard for someone else to hear. So I won't mistake the two again, but I was amazed with the similar chords and very similar strumming pattern. That is just for the beginnings of each song though.

I probably just rambled way too much, sorry. Just thought I would add that.

General Comment:The song definately seems inspired by Conor. The guitar "solo" towards the end pays homage to the "solo" on "Contrast and Compare" (which is the song sung by Conor and Neely).....

General Comment:the opening verse is strikingly reminiscient to "the difference in the shades" by bright eyes, at least to me. i hesitate to say that it could be partly inspired conor, but possibly? i know that during that early time in bright eyes' career, he was really close to Neely from TATW, so it would make sense that her nostalgia for a more innocent time, which seems apparent in this song, could be interwined with memories of conor.

    "Now that I'm grown
I can't seem to find it
There is no tall tall grass
    For me to hide in"

i could be WAY off. whatever the case, it really gets me when the piano comes in on the lines "i've been scared to say ... i've lined them up to fall."
