Lovers, keep on the road you're on
Runners, until the race is run
Soldiers, you've got to soldier on
Sometimes even the right is wrong

They are turning my head out
To see what I'm all about
Keeping my head down
To see what it feels like now
But I have no doubt
One day, we're gonna get out

Tonight maybe we're gonna run
Dreaming of the Osaka sun
Oh, oh,
Dreaming of when the morning comes

They are turning my head out
To see what I'm all about
Keeping my head down
To see what it feels like now
But I have no doubt
One day the sun will come out

Oh,

Reign of love
I can't let it go
To the sea I offer
This heavy load

Locusts will
Lift me up
I'm just a prisoner
In a reign of love

Locusts will
Let us stop
I wish I'd spoken
To the reign of love

Reign of love
By the church, we're waiting
Reign of love
My knees go praying

How I wish
I'd spoken up
Or we'd be carried
On the reign of love

General Comment:The tack piano sounds like the edge's guitar from U2. The lyrics are stream of concience.

My Interpretation:weird though,,, why lovers in JAPAN! (mind you, to a lot of people it may sound bullshit) I think the song is about the history of Japan. the uplifting heartbeat in the song resembles the everlasting spirit of Japan. during the period of world war II(even a lot earlier), the empire of japan didn't surrender until the very last minute..the army are so patriotic, that no cry or weep allowed when it comes to helping their own country stronger. pursue of perfection, determination and ambition are deeply inside every men and women in Japan. ****i don't really understand the culture and the history of japan. it's just my impression of japan...

General Comment:I would agree with what most people said that its about when times are getting tough in a relationship look at the bright side of things and keep going. Pretty explanatory from the lyrics. I would say that the chorus kind of refers to other people trying to break apart the relationship however that eventually it will be ok and you should continue.

Interesting what people have said about u2 and what luvwings said about take it back by pink floyd. I can link u2 to take it back but I really cant see how either that song or u2 is similar to this it all.

Lastly I have to say this song is amazing one of my all time favourites.

General Comment:I'm not sure about the second part, but I know the Lovers in Japan is about two lovers feeling whole and sure that their parents or whoever doesn't want them together is incorrect. It's simply two crazy kids wishing they could run away together, while at the same time, Chris Martin is giving them some priceless advice. Almost like two different people sharing their side of the story, I guess.
Anyways, I listen to it everyday.

General Comment:The variety of interpretations here is what makes this kind of song writing so genius. Everyone takes something different away. As a musician I can tell you that writing like this is very difficult. Tis a harpsichord on this song, not a piano people...very experimental for a alt rock group...hard to play this little riff too, I know from trying. Strings with lots of reverb and a little delay give it the open/ arena rock feel. I can attest hearing this live is delightful.

Meaning conjurs images of perserverance, defensive positions. I like what some said on here about when you are falling in love you are helpless despite how the other person feels, usually you keep trying (keep soldiering on to win the object of your desire) the heart heart usually wins over the head for most of us.

Peace to all fans of Colplay! Us staying interested will keep them interested over the longer haul. Viva Coldplay!

    General Comment:LOST IN TRANSLATION, anybody??

I can't help but think of that, even before I heard the actual music and just saw the title, that movie is the first thing I thought of...a romance blooming in the futuristic/alienating yet beautiful Japan. Even if it's a moment that comes and goes, you hold on it to the memory, you soldier on, dreaming of the "osaka sun"....

    or something
