What has come over me
What madness taken hold of my heart
To run away, the only answer
Pulling me away
To run upon my sight
So now recovering
Sweet shadow taking hold of my mind
Another day has been devoured
Calling me away, bringing the question
Why

For saving me from all they've taken
Let my honor fall again
Giving me the strength to face them
Feeling it taking over now
I'm about to take it all away
There can be no better way of knowing

[Chorus]
In a world beyond controlling
Are you going to deny the savior
In front of your eyes
Stare into the night
Power beyond containing
Are you going to remain a slave for
The rest of your life
Give into the night

This self discovery
Redemption taking hold of my mind
This serenade of haunting voices
Calling me away
To piece from the sight
So much felicity
Downgrade and taking hold of my head
Leading me away from hibernation
Strong and I'm unafraid
Never a question why

For saving me from all they've taken
Let my honor fall again
Giving me the strength to face them
Feeling it taking over now
I'm about to take it all away
There can be no better way of knowing

[Chorus]

Give in to the night

[Chorus]

Night, night, night
Give into the Night
Night, night, night
Give into the night [Repeat x2]

General Comment:It sounds to me like a person has been punished for too long, and is plotting a rebellion against the group controlling him and his comrades. The rebels aren't exactly bad, maybe, but they have to do what they have to do to take out the people who have taken control. Or maybe it's just one person rebelling. Anyway, the bad guys are actually the good guys, and somehow they are extremely badass and starting to win. I somehow feel like this describes the Soviet soldiers and people at Stalingrad. I guess because, even though at that point, they were already at war with the Germans, shit became serious, and "The people and army are one!" was heard everywhere? Anyway, extremely badass song, I wouldn't want to mess with the motherfucker blasting this goddamn war cry.

General Comment:"Give in to the night" means giving in to temptation. Night always symbolizes darkness; evil; impurity; temptation; etc.

General Comment:Speaks about the night as this entity thats a freeing sort of a thing, that liberting force as opposed to approaching it from the typical perspective of darkness which its normally spoken about. Almost celeberating the coming of it.

General Comment:I feel this song is about one person feeling trapped, but has one solution..

The person does not share the same beliefs/morals as the large, powerful group of people it is talking about (possibly family, work environment or government if politically motivated). This group is stripping him of his dignity through slavery and control, (mental or physical), but are too powerful to stand up to.

I believe it could only be family or government, as a job can be easily quitted, family or government obviously will have a stronger hold over a person. I believe more government over family, as with reference to "a world beyond controlling", and one single person compared to the world rulers is indeed powerless.

I regret to say that this song may also imply suicide as that solution mentioned earlier.. The "Night" (the solution to his problem) methaphor suggests one of the parties in this battle cannot 'see'. On one hand it could quite possibly mean joining some form of rebel society, or planning some form of rebelion plot behind their backs (which the group party cannot 'see'). On the other hand, the person may have become so powerless that the only way out is suicide. The chorus suggests there is only one saviour and to stare into the night; which could mean 'kill yourself and the pain has gone' - meaning that he can no longer 'see', literally.

Either way, I love this song!

My Opinion:Wow. !I! personally believe all of that stuff. It could mean anything, and everything, and that's the beauty of Disturbed and the magnificence of music in general. It's like Psalms(which would make an AWESOME name for another song, no matter you are!)

General Comment:I think this song is a journey to discover what's hidden, like the inner self of something.

"Are you gonna deny the savior in front of your eyes?"

It's there, and you have to keep searching.

"Are you gonna remain a slave for the rest of your life?"

You can keep searching, or you can go on doing the wrong thing, being a slave.

One of my favorite Disturbed songs, never fails to amaze me when I listen to it. :D
