It's not my destiny to be the one that you will lay with
So many reasons why I have to go but want to stay here
Sometimes I want a taste but then I don't know what I'm saying
You are the angel and I am the one who is praying

There is another love that I would rather be obeying
I see the ecstasy and already I'm anticipating
I feel a deeper peace and that deeper peace is penetrating
I've got the magic in me, I am complete is what I'm saying

I'm flying up so high, my purple majesty displaying
I've reached a higher place that no one else can make a claim in

I'll take you there, my friend
I'm reaching out my hand, so take it
We are the angels, and we are the ones that are praying

Peace, shalom, peace, shalom
Peace, peace
Peace, shalom, peace, shalom
Peace, peace

Song Meaning:This song says to me that it's PEOPLE that do good in this world. It's about the discovery that there is peace without god. I'm a Christian turned Atheist and I love this song for what it means to me. "We are the Angels and we are the ones who are praying" is such an awesome statement.

My Opinion:I think you guys are all right, but all combined. This song has spiritual aspects, relationship aspects, and him finding himself aspects. About a month ago, I was going through what is explained in the first verse.

"It's not my destiny to be the one that you will lay with
So many reasons why I have to go but want to stay here"
in the spiritual way he feels like he's being told that he's not meant to be with her and he realizes that's true but he doesn't want to leave her

"Sometimes I want to taste, but then I don't know what I'm saying
You are the angel and I am the one that is praying"
he wants to and knows he has to find the one he'll end up with but once again, he doesn't want to. also he feels as though God put her in his life to give him experience and put him on the right path and he is praying for help

"There is another love that I would rather be obeying
I see the ecstasy, and already I'm anticipating
I feel a deeper peace, and that deeper peace is a trade-in
I've got the magic in me, I am complete is what I'm saying"
this verse is very spiritual, the other love his God. the ecstasy is the feeling he sees others with when they're so close to God. the deeper peace is the peace his soul will be in after he ends the relationship and moves on. the magic is him coming to terms with what he has to do and with himself, bringing the relationship to an end will make him at peace.

"I'm flying up so high, my purple majesty displaying
    I've reached a higher place
that no one else can make a claim in"
he's feeling the ecstasy and he feels like a king (purple is a the colour associated with royalty) and well majesty explains itself. he's reached a higher place as in he feels like he is where he needs to be with his life and no one can change that because things are finally right.
"I'll take you there my friend,
I'm reaching out my hand, so take it
We are the angels and we are the ones that are praying"
he is now reaching out to the one he has to leave because he doesn't want to hurt her because he does still care about her and he wants to help her through this and come to peace with herself. they are the angels as in they are at peace and they are praying-a literal reference to praising God

    "peace, shalom"
well he is at peace with himself, and shalom which is a very powerful word to put here, represents that he is at peace with God and he is also at peace with the girl he used to be with and the one he is with now

sorry it was so long but that's just my interpretation of it, I know you guys may not agree but we all have our opinions right?

General Comment:GUYS!!!!This song is about MUCH MORE than what you think!!"Peace shalom" says something VERY IMPORTANT. "Shalom"in Hebrew means "God's peace". He is saying that he has found COMPLETE peace and happieness of life IN God! "I feel a deeper peace.." -he has found a peace that is more than the girl or anyone can offer-because he found it in god. Its a very happy song

General Comment:Haha if only I could edit comments...

Like he could be in a relationship, but it would be bad for him or against the rules, so he's letting it go. And he might find another relationship, but he is so okay with himself that he doesn't need to search for things outside of himself to be happy anymore.

General Comment:There are so many interpretations, but I don't think any one is necessarily the right one. I think probably for their frontman, Rivers, it has a more spiritual meaning, but can also be about relationships too. For me, it makes me think of accepting that you can't be with someone. Like about letting go, and also that he is complete and doesn't need to get into relationships because he's found peace within himself. That's all.

General Comment:I closely relate to this song. Emotionally, is plucks many of my heart strings.

I feel that the character whose thoughts this song depicts is with somebody in the beginning that they feel dependent on, but know that they cannot stay with. The character's remorse is expressed, but then they find inner peace with what's going to happen, whatever that is.

    Love it.

General Comment:This song is so beautiful, that it really sucks when you actually listen to or look up the lyrics and see how absolutely disgusting it's obvious meaning is... "I love you, and I know you don't love me, but I'm okay with that because I've found a deeper love with the Jewish god, but I still love you so I want you to come with me to see his love." How SICK!
