This is absolutely one of my most favorite songs by animal collective.
It makes me feel like I want to start a family.
Well, either that or reminds me of being a kid. I'm not sure. Maybe getting the feeling from a child that you're a child again?
In any case, love it.

just realized that while singing this song in my bed that "just a SECCCC moooreeee in maaahhhh beeeeeeddd" sounds like a yawn.
i know this because i sang it while yawning.
just saying.
they probably didn't intend for that but it worked out well for them.

I think this song describes Panda Bear living through his whole daily routine (taking his daughter to school or the playground) and then waking up to realize it was all a dream and the day hasn't even started yet. When he finally wakes up, his energy is already drained, so he keeps pleading for "just a sec more" in his bed.
The transition from dream to real life is extremely accurate and well defined. Everything slows down and the bells in the background start to resemble an alarm clock.

Booginslaugen, I hear "just a signal in my head" too. I also hear the surreal "traffic signal in my bed", which would suggest the commonplace details that appear in his daily routine infiltrate his place of rest and disengagement.

Even after learning the "official" lyrics, I can't abandon the lines I've unknowingly created. Noah said in an interview that he finds it interesting when people hear different words in the lyrics. The style and the mix of the vocals on this album have made it easy for listeners to do so. In "My Girls", I sometimes hear either "on the prosperous day" or "from a proper space" instead of "on my father's grave". These imagined lines are just as pertinent to the meaning of the song and themes of the album.

i made an account just to say that the intro organ that gradually speeds up eventually sounds like an alarm clock that wakes him up to start his day, then as he hits the snooze the vocals kick in. dont think about that listening to it on headphones at work. u may start tearing up. i did when i noticed it after the 50th listen. THEN after the final "TRAFFIC SIGNAL" the organ kicks back in you can picture a traffic light going bonkers to the sound and it eventually fades back to him in bed with the alarm clock going off as he is asking for "just a sec more".....

this song is one of my favorites off the new album.
i walk around alot on and off campus and this line really hits me.....
