Also, i believe by "visiting friends" he is speaking of a relationship in which the lover comes and goes...Visiting friends as in a friend who only visits, never staying to establish anything worthwhile. Just an idea, rereading the partial lyrics with that in mind really helped me at least *feel* like i understand the song/meaning, but to each his own :)
