tear us down.
welcome destruction with open arms.
it's all to static. bring it on, bring it on.
routine's so boring it makes me scream. tear us down. just tear us down.
when fate just pushes us along.
children of nothing, this is our song.
hail destroyer. hail destroyer. hail destroyer. we're rising up from ashes.
erase the comfort, erase the crutch
when given nothing we appreciate so much
a wake up call. you just want to scream. tear us down. just tear us down.
on our own terms of right and wrong.
children of nothing, this is our song.
hail destroyer. hail destroyer. hail destroyer. we're rising up from ashes.
hail destroyer. hail destroyer. hail destroyer. our lives begin when we fall down.
keep me incomplete.
keep it corroded the rust, the dust.
keep me incomplete
all sense of order can self destruct.
keep me incomplete
reduced to rubble and time to shine.
keep me incomplete
tear us down and carry on.
children of nothing, this is our song.
hail destroyer. hail destroyer. hail destroyer. we're rising up from ashes.
hail destroyer. hail destroyer. hail destroyer. our lives begin when we fall down.

General Comment:I kind of read it as the start of the anarchist revolution, the populace washing themselves of their comfortable lives.

“Anarchy wears two faces, both creator and destroyer. Thus destroyers topple empires; make a canvas of clean rubble where creators then can build another world. Rubble, once achieved, makes further ruins' means irrelevant.
    Away with our explosives, then!
Away with our destroyers! They have no place within our better world.
But let us raise a toast to all our bombers, all our bastards, most unlovely and most unforgivable.
    Let's drink their health...
then meet with them no more.”

General Comment:Anyone ever seen fight club? This song has lots of references to it. Watch it, a great film.

-'Children of nothing' refers to the generation of fatherless children
-'hail destroyer' refers to project mayhem, which creates chaos and mayhem and in the end destroys the financial district, meaning everything (credit, debt) is set to zero.
-'when you have nothing you appreciate so much' refers to the narrator losing his condo full of expensive designer stuff and the line "it's only when you have nothing you are free to do anything"
-'keep me incomplete' refers to the line "I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, let the chips fall where they may"
-'when fate just pushes us along' ie. the capitalist mode of living your life in some ways boxes you in and you can only move along a pre-determined path, being 'pushed along by fate' in a sense.

You could also say that it's about hitting the bottom (Another theme of fight club) like Bats21 says, and the atheist element is fairly clear. In Fight Club they are not atheists but the believe that God doesn't like them (since their fathers are their only models for god and all their fathers left them bastards), so you could go down that route.

Anyway, that's just my take - it isn't fact.

You are not your fucking Khakis

General Comment:I have always considered this song to be about people who don't believe in gods or follow religions. " Children of nothing", an atheists anthem so to speek, but what do I know?

Song Meaning:To me, this song is obviously about two things. These things go hand in hand most of the time.

The song is an anthem for those of us who have been stepped on, picked on, shunned, etc. (Like me =D) This is easily represented by the line "Children of nothing, this is our song!"

Hand in hand with this is the simple truth that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Simple as that.

General Comment:''our lives begin when we fall down.''
this line pretty sums up the song for me. Its about always getting life's raw end of the deal and hitting rock bottom. Once you hit that point where life can't get any worse, sudden realization comes that hey, im be alright if I survived this far.

''keep me incomplete reduced to rubble and time to shine.''
As long as you are incomplete, you always have something to look forward too. a sense of hope. It makes you wanna shine!

anyways, this is what it means to me. :)

General Comment:I think that this song is about someone who is sees the world as boring and simple and embraces a new destructive force that changes the rules and embraces the "outcasts" of civilization
