I'm working on my backwards walk
Walking with no shoes or socks
And the time rewinds to the end of May
I wish we'd never met, then met today

I'm working on my faults and cracks
Filling in the blanks and gaps
And when I write them out they don't make sense
I need you to pencil in the rest

I'm working on drawing a straight line
And I'll draw until I get one right
And it's bold and dark girl, can't you see
I done drawn a line between you and me

I'm working on erasing you
Just don't have the proper tools
I get hammered, forget that you exist
There's no way that I'm forgetting this

I'm working hard on walking out
Shoes keep sticking to the ground
My clothes won't let me close the door
'Cause the trousers seem to love your floor

I been working on my backwards walk
There's nowhere else for me to go
Except back to you just one last time
Say yes before I change my mind

Say yes before I
You're the shit and I'm knee-deep in it
You're the shit and I'm knee-deep in it, you're
You're the shit and I'm knee-deep in it
You're the shit and I'm knee-deep in it, you're
You're the shit and I'm knee-deep in it
You're the shit and I'm knee-deep in it, you're
You're the shit and I'm knee-deep in it
You're the shit and I'm knee-deep in it, you're

"i'm working on erasing you just don't have the proper tools i get hammered, forget that you exist there's no way i'm forgetting this"

It's crazy how much I can relate to this part. To me, it seems like he wants to forget someone but he can't bring himself to do it, like he doesn't "have the proper tools" to do so. So he turns to drinking to try to solve the problem, but he knows that won't work.

Clothes won't let me close the door - GENIUS! But yeah, when i heard this for the first time at the album launch I was just like "Wow, that's so true". "Say yes before I change my mind" sent chills down me. And "you're the shit and i'm knee deep in it" is ultimately heartbreaking but surprisingly bop-able at the same time! Perfect pop music!

I think this song is the reason why I fell in love with Frightened Rabbit in the first place. Beautiful and simply perfect.

The line is "i wish we'd never met that MAN today"!

Its clearly saying she cheated on him and he wants to go back in time to before that happened, that would make things all good again right?

Every song on the album has an underlying theme of cheating, as his girl cheated on him before he wrote the album.

Heres an ironic point... In the second song on the album called "i feel better" he says "this the last song i write about you" Ironically there are 12 more songs after this one lol, i know this dont relate to this song i jus thought it was funny.

This song to me is about the subject having had a broken relationship, and walking backwards to where he came from, so he can start again with the person the relationship was broken from. He believes he has no other option as this is who he loves and where his heart lays. He wants a second chance, and to show this person that he is worth the time, with love prevailing over him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
