You are not alone tonight
Imagine me there by your side
It's so hard to be here so far away, from you
I'm counting the days 'till
I'm finally done
I'm counting them down, yeah, one by one
It feels like forever 'till I return to you
But it helps me on those lonely nights
It's that one thing that keeps me alive

[Chorus]
Knowing that you wait for me
Ever so patiently

No one else knows the feeling inside
We hang up the phone without saying goodnight
Because it's the sound of your voice that brings me home
It's never been easy to say
But it's easier when I've gone away

[Chorus]

Yeah, you're everything I've ever dreamed of having and
It's everything I need from you just knowing that you wait for me

What I'd give
What I'd do
Knowing I'm not there for you
Makes it so hard to leave
What I'd give
What I'd do
Anything to get me home to you
And this time I'll stay

And you wait for me
Ever so patiently

Yeah, you're everything I've ever dreamed of having and
It's everything I need from you just knowing that you wait for me

General Comment:i love this song. i had recently moved across the country and left my extended family behind. a few months later my grandmother passed and it has been extremely hard on me still. but i listen to this song and i think of her and my family and friends i have lost and it comforts me. cuz i know there waiting for me somewhere out there and one day we'll all be together. but i'd give anything for her to listen to this song cuz i know she'd love it as much as i do.

General Comment:i don't have a boyfriend or husband in the army, but my boyfriend is leaving for college in the fall and i've been really upset because i have to stay behind, so when i went to tour his college with him i cried and he told me that every night before he went to sleep he'd listen to this song because it made him think of me. this song makes me cry!

General Comment:Ha. This song is not just about a relationship torn by someone in the military, but also a long distance relationship. Ironically, this song was the theme song for a long distance relationship, that I was almost in, that almost got even longer because of a military career.
The lyrics are beautiful. The words are simple, the thoughts are simple, but together, they create a beautiful complexity that explains so many emotions.

General Comment:My boyfriend is in the US Navy and when I first heard this song he was all I could think of. This song is perfect and says all I would want it to say. I'm in love with this song. Long distance love sums it up military or not but that's what I thought when I first heard it.

General Comment:I love this and cried the first time I heard it.. mind you I was already pretty emotional at the time.
There are no words to describe how hard it is to be so far away from the person you love but this song does a pretty good job at it.
    Thank you for writing it.

General Comment:The first time I actually sat down and listened to this song, my step Dad was overseas. I played it for my mom and thought she was going to lose it. She told him about one night while they we chatting via webcam and I thought he was going to lose it.

22 days from now, my boyfriend leaves for basic training he won't be back until late November, then he leaves again for almost a year. I never quite grasped how hard it would be to watch someone you love go away for so long. So, in a lot of ways, this song makes me think of him. Sadly, he isn't even gone yet. Just one of those things you don't focus on until the day finally comes.

All in all, this song makes he think that Tyler Connelly was reaching out to those who are far away from their loved ones. Whether it be him on tour or any other band on tour and away from their families or those of us who have loved ones away fighting for our Country. It truly is a master piece, a well written/sung way for those who just can't find the words to describe how much they miss someone. A touching song. Very, very touching.

General Comment:I think it's about, if you want to get technical, the singer being on tour and his gf/wife/whatever (I don't know) waiting at home for him to return. What it means to me, however, is my waiting until my gf can be here with me. She's planning a trip down here in March, and thinking about moving out here afterwards, the waiting and being apart is hard, but we hold on because we have each other, physically together or not. Certain lines (we hang up the phone without saying goodnight, knowing I'm not there for you makes it so hard to leave, etc) directly relate to us as well.
