The first line is ..."want her, have her".....not want to have her...he already has the girlfriend, thats the point of the song.

awesome song! reminds me of those old songs in the 1960s or something..also reminds me of the beatles although i've never really heard what they sounded like..it was just the very first thing i thought of after seeing the video. :)

Seems that the singer is speaking to a guy that for two years has been chasing after his girl, "the one he fell for" but that it was a ridiculous game because she treated it like a teenage crush.

At the end he's saying that the girl this guy is chasing after, is "Standing next to me".

Whether the writer is still interested in her..seems muddy.

I can't believe only so few posts have been writen here,,

I think its about two guys who go out
and one is flirting with girls while he has a girlfriend

and the other one is with the first persons gf
"your love is standing next to me"
and "he can't relate to the never ending games that you play"

as the first persons "desire passes through then you're open to the truth"

The singer is interested about this guys girlfriend, and as the time/desire passes through the guy is starting to accept that the girlfriend likes the singer more ("as desire passes through then you're open to the truth")

The girlfriend seem not to care about the guy at all, neighter does the singer.. ("And we'll drink to the thoughts she'll remember you, maybe tomorrow")

The $t!g - I think sort of the same as you do. He's already got a girlfriend but is still playing with other girls. When it appears to him that she used to be one of the girls that he flirted with and really wanted, is she already gone. And the writer is with her all the time, standing next to her. Also in her opinions. Sort of. I don't now, maybe.

here is my thoughts on this song, or at least, my interpritation.
ok so our guy, the guy who is singing, he has a GirlFriend, and there is another guy(i'll refurr to him as X)
so X is trying to steal away the Girlfriend of our guy. and my interpritation of "want her, have her, 2years have gone now but i cant relaite to the games that u play" hes basically saying "if u want to try to get my girl, go ahead, TRY, ive been with her for 2years and u aint getting nowhere with her, and im not gonna play these little games with u so i can keep the girl that i already have and it would be a waste of time on my part"

where he says "as desire passes thru then youll open to the truth i hope u understand and your love is standing next to me" MY INTERPRITATION- "when you're done liking my girl, THATS when you will be able to see clearly that she is with me and she is in love with me and she isnt going to leave me for you"

"the one you fell for, makes it too juvinile, and youll laugh at yourself again and again, and we'll drink to the thought that she'll remember you, maybe tomorrow" MY INTERPRITATION= "the fact that you're 'in love' with my girl-that u bearly know, is kiddish and childish, you'll look back on this and laugh one day on how silly this situation really is...and shes gonna forget u so u shud forget her"

well thats my inturpentation of this complex song. As poet, this song is pure and i enjoyed the medium in which it was presented to me(music) I love the shadow puppets for this reason.
