Cobwebs Lyrics
with your head in a noose and
a great butter knife found you some breakfast or adventure and i've smelled trouble but how should we get some sleep when the last of the notes dries dead the left skies poems about poisoness berries a i've built a home out of the fire of nature burning up your sheet you know I only sting so that I feel alive under perfection a number of times driftwood on reverb it sounds more like paradise to me well the stones will stop talking bad weather's aside hunters and robbers will drip bloody for a time Cornstalk told me better run while the earth holds this heat we'll come out in the night everybody you know will be laughing and singing and there won't be no fighting we'll come in out in the night while all the lasers are firing and our babies are gurgling and our elders are wobbling we're not going underground we're not going underground i'm not going underground we're not going underground are we going underground i'm not going underground now cobwebs they took my home i'm in disoriented glee cobwebs they blocked the path that was connecting you and me cobwebs its a sticky case the more i move the less im free cobwebs they took my home i'm in disoriented glee they blocked the path that was connecting you and me its a sticky case the more i move the less im free ever since I was a boy I found new ways to view my porridge sometimes electric organic like strawberry meat

Thanks for helping me to understand the Lyrics of one of my favorite bands (Just seen them on stage, brilliant!)
You wrote:
"the left skies poems about poisoness berries"
Don't you think it should be:
poisonOUS berries?
(and is that important?)
Thanks again and see you soon.

Don't you think the last lines are an allusion about
Strawberry Alarm Clock
That 60's hippie band who sang
"Mushroom Dreams"
in a movie entitled "Psych Out" with Jack Nicholoson?

Anyway, this is a great song. I believe the song is about being a weird/unique person. The first long segment of lyrics is pretty out-there and ridiculous, yet features everyday/household objects. To me this seems like "zoning out" or focusing on seemingly pointless things and making seamingly meaningless connections (this is something I do frequently so maybe thats why it came to mind).
There is a part of everyone that wants to go out into society and be a part of it, the communication, the events, understanding eachother, etc. That's what the segment that starts "We'll come out in the night" is about. This is also illustrated by "I'm not going underground..." meaning that we don't want to give in to the things that separate us and make us succumb to our unorthadox, incommunicable, unexplanable thought processes: that which in turn makes us social outcasts (parrotsnest, good ear on picking up those subtle background lyrics, "but their negative oppression's pushing me down" I think refers to society's resistance to what it sees as menial, senseless, trifling thoughts.) "where all the lazers are firing" I think corresponds to current events and how being normal constitutes keeping up with world news, and the lines about babies and elders pertains to keeping up with family and interpersonal connections.
The "cobwebs" refer to the annoying aspect of this conflict of intellect. We strive to be connected and socially valid, but we have to fend off the cobwebs of irrational thought, and for some of us, we become easily absorbed by them.
The last segment of the lyrics pretty much solidify the song's meaning. It's easy for some of us, even at an early age, to drown in thought over something as simple as porridge. We see meaning in ordinary things and it distracts us from "what's really important." But I think the real moral core to these lyrics is that there's nothing wrong with seeing meaning in everything, and analyzing everything in life no matter how pointless it might seem, and seeing what lies beyond face value.
That's just my interpretation.

everbody to know
we'll be laughing and singing
and there won't be no viking
we'll come out in the night
where all the lazers are firing
and our babies are gurgly
and our elders are wobbly
We're not going underground
are you going underground?
I'm not going underground
but their negative opression's pushing me down
Are you going underground?
No I'm not goin underground
Won't we set it up too? it's just to make up sound
Are you going underground?
No I'm not going underground
We're not goin underground
Are you going underground
No I'm not going underground now.
Cobwebs!
That's what I'm hearing :D <- with great headphones might I add.

I'm pretty sure there is no mention on vikings in the song ;D
And I'm pretty damn sure a lot of AC stuff has had psychedelic influence. "I see you Pan" on Holindoggin or however you spell it, is undisputedly about tripping. They are an amazing band anyways, but on mushrooms and lsd they permeate the soul. Haha, once on LSD I was listening to April and the Phantom (one of my alltime favorites) and thought for (what seemed like) awhile I was in the song and was speaking in code to Avey Tare! hahahaha
