Lyrics for I Kissed A Girl as interpreted by amandamarie

I Kissed A Girl Lyrics
This was never the way I planned
Not my intention
I got so brave, drink in hand
Lost my discretion
It's not what, I'm used to
Just wanna try you on
I'm curious for you
Caught my attention

I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chapstick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it

No, I don't even know your name
It doesn't matter
Your my experimental game
Just human nature
It's not what, good girls do
Not how they should behave
My head gets so confused
Hard to obey

I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chapstick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it

Us girls we are so magical
Soft skin, red lips, so kissable
Hard to resist so touchable
Too good to deny it
Ain't no big deal, it's innocent

I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chapstick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it

I agree with alioopity. I was in the car with my mom when I heard this. I didn't realize what she was saying until I started singing along and my mom gave me a strange look.

I'm not saying it's a big deal. I like the song, I was just commenting on how my mom now thinks I'm a lesbian. Not that there's anything wrong with being a lesbian, it's just that I'm not. So, yeah, it got a little awkward.

My parents are immune to my constant singing along to the radio...so that's probably why they don't have much of a reaction whenever I sing this one. I mean...the song sort of is really open and out there, and that's what gives me the courage to stand up and reveal something about myself that no one knew before, you know?

This song is utter crap, lyrically and content wise. I have nothing against gays and lesbians, I just think its wrong to cash in by creating music that encourages this sexual confusion in the current generation. My sister who's a lesbian even said of this song "yeah I might do what she's talking about, but I wouldn't write a song about it." All of these idiots who prattle on about this being great representation of people experimenting with bisexuality need to get a clue. Just because you have a sexual encounter with someone and enjoy the feeling doesn't mean you're attracted to that person or that gender. Sex is supposed to feel good, regardless of who it is with...it doesn't mean you are attracted to women or could end up having a relationship with one. I'm sick of this bisexuality crap, it's all along the same lines as that Tila Tequila show...it's just for guys to beat off to, it is horrible representation for gays and lesbians. This kind of stuff is why we have so many young sluts as well as people confused about their sexuality...both gay people thinking they can somehow make themselves bi and thus "normal" to a degree, as well as straight people who think that a pleasurable experience with someone of the same sex makes them bisexual.

Speaking as a bisexual myself; this song is simply about experimenting with women. I don't find it offensive, it's just fun. Good beat, catchy, all around good song.

Sure, this song isn't exactly the equivalent of lyrical gold, but damn if it isn't catchy. Love it.

So okay,
I'm thinking that this song is really lame.
It's degrading, even.

"No, I don't even know your name
It doesn't matter
Your my experimental game"

Oh yes, let's use people.
:/

Anyways, I agree with seraphicreverie.

the first time i heard this song i was leaving a store then i stopped and was like um..what??

i think its a funny song but also hypocritical. girls hate when guys are players so shes one?

seraphicreverie makes a lot of good points. though i dont really agree with bisexuality being wrong. im bi and i am honestly into boy and girls. i just dont limit who i have feelings for.

sexual confusion just happens, whether or not media and entertainment "encourage" it.
i don't see what's wrong with openly discussing it
the same type of people who want to shut it up are the same type who hold back any progression in acceptance

her song isn't about realizing she's a lesbian or any real life changing occurrence, ("Don't mean I'm in love tonight") it's simply that one night at a party she got drunk and had the urge to kiss a girl and SURPRISE she liked it.

bisexuality is a personal choice and can't really be defined

you can't just say a girl isn't bi just because she doesn't want a RELATIONSHIP with another girl
it's all about the sexual attraction

what do you say about guys who don't want relationships? that they're not straight?

I was told about this song by a girl who's kind of been giving me mixed signals...so yeah, I figured I needed to give it a listen and see if it might tell me where she was coming from...so yeah, this sounds like it's probably her train of thought :)

I don't think bisexuality is wrong AT ALL but I do think that it has been commercialized too much. But hey, sex sells.

I agree completely with ecksohhhh, but adding in my own two cents in response to seraphicreverie;

I can see where you're coming from, but you're not looking at all the factors in creating such an argument. You have to look at history. The current generation, yes, is exposed to sex and homosexuality. Why? Because we're more accepting, we're less likely to discriminate against someone because of their sexuality - we're living in a time when we allow someone to express themselves sexually, regardless of their preference. In generations past, homosexuality was frowned upon, and that includes the experimentation that goes along with it. Of course people weren't going to open up about it! This generation embraces peoples' differences and choices. People now feel free to experiment to see what/who they rather without the fear of social isolation. Who's to say they're not aloud to do that?

But back to the song - it's pretty damn funky. I agree with chickacherrycola.

I love this song. Not the best, lyrically. But hey - its different. Its not too often you hear songs about homosexuality/bisexuality on the radio. Our generation is more open and accepting that previous ones, and now the music is starting to reflect that.
Being bi myself, I can relate somewhat to the song. I've done things with girls and I've had feelings for some, but I don't know if I'd ever have a serious relationship with a girl. Does that mean I'm not bi? No. It doesn't. I know I'm attracted to girls. I know I'm bisexual.

And to those of you who say people are just posing as bisexuals as part of a "trend" or trying to fit in or be more normal than homosexuals - fuck you. Its not a trend, its a personal opinion of attraction. The fact simply is that there are the same number of bisexuals as there always have been - people are just more open about it.
This song is catchy and different and I like it :)

well, i honestly think that kissing anyone is fun, because, in the end, women and men are not that different "kissing-wise," right? i kind of think that we are all bi in a way...maybe not. but this is a very brave song. i mean, aren't at least 15% of Americans homophobes? not that this is specifically a homosexual song, more of an honest one, imao. everyone has been attracted to both the opposite and same sex before, i'm pretty sure. that doesn't necessarily make us all bisexual, some of us prefer male partners and some of us prefer female to the other, but i honestly think that everyone has felt some kind of attraction to either sex. idk, that might just be me.

I have some problems with this song, but on the whole, I like it. It defiantly advocates experimentation with sexuality. I like that way she so strong when she sings "and I liked it." To me, it's sort saying, "If you don't like that, then shove it." It's certainly a brave song, as undefined789 says.

Though I did have problems. I think the song sort of portrays bisexuals as sluts. For one thing, the singer refers to the girl she kissed as her "experimental game," which is rather degrading. Romantic intimacy is a "game" to her, apparently. Also, she has a boyfriend and so is technically cheating on him. If the song were handled a bit differently, I think I would have liked it even better. There seems to be so few songs so openly advocating homosexuality, though, that I'll take what I can get.

i agree with klarikwa it's totally just about experimenting with someone of the same sex. it's okay to be curious...
i really don't believe anyone should take this song seriously. i really don't think that is the artists intentions.

I can't help but think that the song's a slight bit insulting at some points:

"I got so brave, drink in hand
Lost my discretion"
-Sounds like a girl has to be drunk for the possibility to even happen.

"I hope my boyfriend don't mind it"
-Acknowledges the fact that she expects her boyfriend to find out, and doesn't care that she's kissing someone else.

"No, I don't even know your name
It doesn't matter
Your my experimental game"
-Doesn't care about the girl she's kissing much, and is using the girl like a 'game'

It's not what, good girls do
Not how they should behave

...and yet despite these thoughts of mine, it's one helluva catchy song =/
