Lyrics for Tell Me What to Swallow as interpreted by indie-YYY

Tell Me What to Swallow Lyrics
Through the wall he threw me,
I knew he'd never hurt me,
Daddy watched me sleeping
Praying for you silently

Daddy's love makes me whole,
without it I am so secure,
The only girl he'd ever hurt
The one who smells so pure.

Very surprising song. Didn't see this one coming.

Is it just me, or does this song have an underlying story of pedophilia? Beautiful song but quite disturbing.

I totally agree. It does seem to have a pedophilia/incest theme. It's very pretty but very dark, and stands out so starkly from the rest of the album, like the whole thing was a put-on until the final track. Incredible.

this song is amazing. the lyrics are eye opening because when you think about it (not that you really want to think about it) stuff like this happens all around the world..... and you don't even know it. J ust this song has a chill way or expressing it

"i feel him walking through me,
i know he'd never hurt me,
then he watched me sleeping

I prayed for you silently...

(dunno next bit)

he hit me, then he hitted her, (dunno the rest)

I always heard the first line as "Through the wall he threw me"

I sort of thought that fitted in more with the other lines, and that it fitted in with the the theme of abuse/paedophilia,
I'm probably wrong though.

But if it was
"through the wall he threw me,
I knew he'd never hurt me"

It could mean, he's hurting her by throwing her through the wall, but she's in denial of it because it's her father and she loves him,
or something.
Maybe i've just got it all wrong hahah

I concur.
There's something about this song that's a bit disturbing and dark.
Possibly one of my favourite Crystal Castles songs, despite the fact it's so different from the others.

This is what I got:

Through the wall he threw me,
I know he’d never hurt me
Daddy watched me sleeping
Praying for you silently

Daddy’s love makes me fall [certain this is correct and it fits well]
Without him I am secure
The only girl he’d never hurt
The one who smells so pure

The last line of each verse sounds like the child's mother who knows what is going on but can't/won't do anything about it, so she just prays for her. So short but manages to capture the child's confusion and fear against a chilling tune.

the correct lyrics are

Through the wall he threw me
I know he'd never hurt me
Daddy watched me sleeping
I've been praying for you silently

Daddy's love makes me whole
Without him I'm insecure
The only girl he'd ever
Love is the one who smells so pure

gotten from andy from lies records

Yeah I hear it the same but two differences and it seems to make sense

Through the wall he threw me,
I knew he'd never hurt me,
Daddy watched me sleeping
Praying for you silently

Daddy's love makes me whole,
without it I am so secure,
The only girl he'd ever hurt
The one who smells so pure.

The whole album carries undertones of violent internal struggle, particularly one of a younger girl. Alice's vocals on the more aggressive tracks like xxzxczx me seem to represent moments where the struggle bleeds over into physical manifestation. Even on tracks like these, the use of harsh, bright synth sounds and upbeat rhythms create a disturbing child-like aura. It would seem that Tell Me What To Swallow is almost a step back from the other tracks; a look at the root of the struggle that is underlying throughout the album.

Of course this is all speculation.

Regardless, this song is incredible.
Gorgeous layering and mixing.

i think it might be about an abusive father because in "yes no" she also talks about a father beating his kids "leave us daddy, beat us no more"

it's about a girl thanking her father that he beat her as a child. that beating made her stronger and independent. the girl knows that her father loved her. loved as he is dead now and the girl is praying for him.
