Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
Oh, how 'bout a round of applause?
Yeah
Standin' ovation
Ooh
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
You look so dumb right now
Standin' outside my house
Tryin' to apologize
You're so ugly when you cry
Please
Just cut it out
Don't tell me you're sorry 'cause you're not
Baby when I know you're only sorry you got caught
But you put on quite a show
Really had me goin'
But now it's time to go
Curtain's finally closin'
That was quite a show
Very entertaining
But it's over now
(But it's over now)
Go on and take a bow, oh
Grab your clothes and get gone (get gone)
You better hurry up
Before the sprinklers come on (come on)
Talkin' 'bout, "Girl, I love you, you're the one"
This just looks like a re-run
Please
What else is on? Oh, oh
And don't tell me you're sorry 'cause you're not
Baby when I know you're only sorry you got caught
But you put on quite a show
You really had me goin'
But now it's time to go
Curtain's finally closin'
That was quite a show
Very entertaining
But it's over now
(But it's over now)
Go on and take a bow
Oh, and the award for the best lie
Goes to you (goes to you)
For makin' me believe
That you could be
Faithful to me
Let's hear your speech, oh
How 'bout a round of applause?
A standin' ovation
But you put on quite a show
You really had me goin'
Now it's time to go
Curtain's finally closin'
That was quite a show
Very entertaining

Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
Apparently the song was written about George Bush and this is who Rihanna is singing about in the song. One of her more political songs. "How about a round of applause A standing ovation" sarcastic celebration for his presidency. "Don’t tell me you’re sorry cuz you’re not Baby when I know you’re only sorry you got caught But you put on quite a show You really had me going" This mainly refers to the alleged inside job of 9/11 and how it was covered up and also the illegal war of Iraq. "But now it’s time to go Curtain’s finally closing That was quite a show Very entertaining But it’s over now Go on and take a bow" Basically means shows over. He's coming to the end of the road and the curtains closing so take a bow.
W T F are you inahalating dude!!! honesty...drugs are bad...
Very obvious meaning. Guy cheats on girl. He says hes sorry. She says well whatever bye.
@iDinosaur yep total win
And don’t tell me you’re sorry cuz you’re not Baby when I know you’re only sorry you got caught
I love those lines, theyre so catchy
Yeah the song is obviously about someone who cheated on her and did wrong, then got caught and is now 'saying' he's sorry but shes like...urrn no. i like it.
naw i love this song. one of my favourites from her !
Self-explanatory.
"Baby, when I know you're only sorry you got caught" So catchy. I love it.
This is my absolute favorite song right now. I think very often guys take girls for granted and they don't realize what they have until they screw up and they are gone. "Don't tell me you are sorry because your not, baby cuz i know your only sorry you caught..." are my favorite lines of the whole song because that is so true!!!!!!!
what the?? The lyrics of the song is really good. "take a bow", the line really sums up the song, its just linking her love life with a drama. So, just like at the end of every drama performers bow down, she's asking her bf to bow down, cause its the end. Really good lyrics. BTW related to George Bush??? how come, so what does this line mean "Talking bout 'Girl I love you You're the one'" means?? I really think, its about her past relation. The lyrics is easy to understand. Yeah, the drum beat could have been changed, its distracting the emotional message rihanna is trying to put across. Could have used an acoustic drum or no drums at all :) but the melody of the song is really good!
I like Rihanna but I'm not a big fan of this. The song is ok, but the whole theme seems lifted from the Best Deceptions by Dashboard Confessional, which is far more poetic.
Agreed. I just heard this song and realized that too.<br /> <br /> " Don't you see, don't you see, that the charade is over?<br /> And all the "Best Deceptions" and "Clever Cover Story" awards go to you. "<br /> <br /> Dashboard Confessionals - "The Best Deceptions" (released 2001)<br />
some lyrics are missing ?
i love how this ties entertainment with him cheating .
? What happened to the rest of the lyrics?
