Baby, just ask once more
Because I saw your door wide open
But the floor is still freezing
Hailey, I was sick and I'm still quite unwell
Tell me it's you or nothing at all

I stole your soul
Because you said I’d never be able
But all the whole world is still on my string

Second time now and you’ve done this before
Drive around the back so I can’t see them
But you’re still freezing
Let me take your coat and your keys and this car
Because I’ve been unwell far too long now

I stole your soul
Because you said I’d never be able
But all the whole world is still on my string

But all the whole world is still on my string

It’s never much when I sing about you

My Interpretation:For some reason I feel like this song is about a relationship with a bit of unrequited love sort of. Like the girl is giving him in ultimatum with the line "Tell me its you or nothing at all"

Then when he sings "I stole your soul because you said I'd never be able" This makes me think that one of the biggest reasons the narrator is still in this relationship is because he was told he would never get the girl to love him.

Then I think he sings "But all the whole world is still on my string" to say that he still has his whole life ahead of him. He still has so much yet to see and do in this world that he doesn't want to be held back by a committed relationship.

My Opinion:I will love Lydia forever. Mindy White's voice layered throughout is amazing. I'm getting a tattoo of the Illuminate album cover.

General Comment:I kind of agree with Sarah; her idea made me try to interpret it even more.

What I get out of this is that there's two people, one may be suicidal? One of them is trying to help the other [I saw your door wide open,] but the suicidal one still has many problems that are hard to face [But the floor is still freezing]. The suicidal thought makes sense with "Hailey, I was sick, and I'm still quite unwell." And it seems that the suicidal one can't live without the other [Tell me it's you or nothing at all.]

    "Cause I stole your soul,
You said I'd never be able,
But all the whole world is still on my string"

This verse seems like the suicidal one made the other a part of his/her terrible world and can't get out of it, no matter what. When it talks about how "the whole world is still on my string," I think that means that everyone around him/her is affected by the suicidal thoughts and it's basically hurting everyone, not just the suicidal one.

I'm not sure what to make of the next verse, but it's clear that someone is avoiding something.

Anywho, the very last line, "It's never much when I sing about you," the way I see it, can mean one of two things. Either when he sings about her, the suicidal thoughts and depression seem like nothing, and she makes him so much happier. Or, on a more negative note, when he sings about her, there's not much to say and it doesn't help him much.

Wow, that was long. Lydia is probably the most amazing band that I've ever come across, and their songs are very, very deep. Leighton's voice is angelic. These songs are heaven.

General Comment:I feel like this song is about one person who is in love, but never wanted to let themself go, and the other
person, while in love, is used to having the world.
but they are not used to sharing the world.
I am so in love with this song it's insane, I can't stop listening to it.

General Comment:This band is hands down my favorite band right now. It reminds me of a mix between, Copeland, Mat Musto, Scott the Musical, and Circa Survive.

This song in particular, is just Epic to say the least, hell, the entire album is epic. love lydia to bits and pieces.

My Interpretation:What i get out of these lyrics is that a guy and a girl was in a relationship but she cheated on him not once but twice.....hence the "Second time now" verse, i dont know thats just me
