Lyrics for The Baskervilles as interpreted by shrodes

The Baskervilles Lyrics
A toast to the last of a dying breed
They're crawling back to bed
They're falling back to sleep
A chill touches the base of your neck
Who'd call by at this hour?
Who's standing at my step?

Alright, we tried to help (x2)
So pull back the cover tonight

I think, and correct me if I'm wrong
This end was meant for you
Since before you were born
So here's to the last of a dying breed
They're crawling back to bed
They're falling back to sleep

Alright, we tried to help (x2)

Shit son, you've got no act
Loosen up those muscles
Straighten up that back

Alright, we tried to help (x2)
So pull back the cover tonight

A toast! To the last of a dying breed
They're crawling back to bed
They're crawling back to sleep

Instead of "shit sigh" it is actually "shit son."

when i first read these lyrics, i thought of a murder :-\ and then i googled "baskervilles murder" and got a result about a sherlock holmes book as well as a movie called murder at the baskervilles, so maybe it relates to one of those?

and sorry for the double comment but on wikipedia it said this:

"After some clever deception by Holmes,it is revealed that the true criminal is Stapleton, a long-lost cousin of the Baskervilles, who hopes to claim their vast fortune himself after removing all other members of the bloodline."

which would relate to "I think, and correct me if I'm wrong
This end was meant for you
Since before you were born" as in, the person had been planning to murder everyone else to get the money for quite some time/"since they'd been born"

sorry if this makes no sense :{

I agree with your interpretation of this song, Rielle. I searched the song on Youtube, and it first came up with Sherlock Holmes: Murder at Baskerville's, or something along those lines. I thought maybe it was a coincidence, but then I listened to the song and I think it probably is a tribute to this, or it's using the story as a metaphor for something else entirely.

actually i just read the hound of the baskervilles for school, and they story is that there is a curse on the family (from a distant baskerville that kidnapped a maiden and when she escaped, went on a hound hunt to find her) that if any one goes on the moor a supernatural like hound comes and kills them to punish the family.
"This end was meant for you
Since before you were born
So here's to the last of a dying breed" <
