    General Comment:Actually, gang, I was itching to know what it was about myself so I actually asked Richard in person. His answer was that a lot of their songs were written when they were high or drunk, so at times the lyrics didn't really mean a whole lot. But for this particular song, it has a few meanings.

    1.) They are very good friends with the band Everything, Now!, who have a tendency to write songs about vaginas. So this song is somewhat of a tribute to that bizarre trait (haha).

    2.) The more appropriate meaning behind the song is about rebirth. His description was blunt and short, but he just said the real factor in the song is that vagina is a reference to being reborn.

    Hope that helped everyone. Of course, Richard seemed a tad "under the influence" at the time too, but he still seemed to be able to intelligently discuss his music. I think we can trust what he said.

    My Interpretation:This song is pretty definitely about masturbation. In the first verse, "I am your mother," can refer to children coming from vaginas. This song is basically an awkward teenager's vagina talking to her XD

    When they say "monkey," I think they make reference to and old moniker for drugs. If you think of sex as as a drug, or the euphoria of climax, the logic follows.

    And then all the "right hand" comments. Masturbation, young discovery of sexual parts, ta-da.

    General Comment:This song is definitely about teenage lust/love. Hello Vagina is a cryptic and legally benign nod to "hello kitty". They couldnt use the term hello kitty for fear of legal ramifications. A double entendre for teenagers and teenage sex. The monkey reference is symbolic of masturbation ie spanking the monkey.

    The comment about "I am your right hand" refers to masturbation as well. I am your best man meaning her hand will never disappoint or hurt her.

    General Comment:Yes, it's definitely a reference to the cult named Heaven's Gate, and cults in general.

    Many family members of cultists have noticed strange bruises, bite marks, all kinds of nasty stuff on their family in the cult. Most ( but not all ) cults are very violent.

    When they say "I am your Monkey", they are referring to the mind washing effects of cults on people. The cultists were essentially the monkeys of the cult leaders - they did everything they said.

    When they say "I am Reborn" they are referring to the Heaven's Gate cultists who believed that their human body was a simple vessel to transport them to the next level of being. They all committed suicide as the comet Hale-Bop went by. They believed this comet would take their souls to the next life.

    When they say "Pour me a drink" they are referring to the kool-aid and cyanide mixture that was prepared for the cultists. When they drank, they flew away to Heaven's Gate, on the wings of the comet Hale-Bop.

    That being said, this is a very sad song. It nearly made me cry the first time I heard it.

    That and Margot's song Quiet as a Mouse are my favorites of theirs.

    General Comment:My uncle bought their new CD "Not Animal" and let me borrow it,
    and when I saw this song's title,
    I laughed, thinking i probably wouldn't like it..
    but this song ended up being my favorite. ^_^

    My interpretation
    is that a girl, not exactly the best-looking in the eyes of the media:
    "Coke-bottle glasses, Tv screen"
    is pregnant (second line).
    And when they say "This is the end of Bollywood",
    maybe he's saying she has to grow up now...?

    And then in the second verse,
    he's talking about the man who got her pregnant.
    and how he gets abusive when he's drunk.
    (I have no clue what "I am your monkey" might mean.) ._.
    But then, when it says:
    "I am reborn, your favorite son."
    He's talking about the girl having his baby,
    and how much the girl loves the baby.

    And then the chorus:
    "I am your right hand,
    I am your best man,
    I am, I am, I am."

    I think it's the guy telling the girl how she needs him,
    how he is the only one she has,
    and that's why she stays with him.

    and then finally, the last two lines:
    "I am your way to heaven's gate
    So pour me a drink, for we fly away."
    I think it's saying that -with enough alcohol-
    the man will eventually get so abusive to the point,
    he might kill the girl.

    And so the title is saying
    that the man may not have even loved her.
    He just saw that she had a vagina,
    and welcomed himself in.
    "Hello Vagina".


    This is what I'm guessing it might mean.
    I may not be right though. >_<
    But either way,
    It is a truly beautiful song. <3
