i really love this song.... this song is about the stolen generation, of the native aboriginals of australia. its a story of his life, growing up in the country town of framlingham (near warrnambool) and being taken away from his family.
While we all accept the sadness did not many positive results come from the stolen generation. Today many wonderful aboriginal children suffer in very poor conditions. We as a nation must accepts today that alcohol drugs sexual abuse and health issues are not well addressed in aboriginal families.
@dave the falcon man from falcon - The outcomes for stolen children are far worse than those who were not removed. Don't just take my word for it - data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows that Aboriginal adults who were removed as children have much worse outcomes in mental health, employment, alcohol abuse, and incarceration than Aboriginal adults who remained with their families. Added to this is that those who were institutionalised missed out on parenting and consequently many struggle to parent their children well because of this institutionalism and the trauma they suffered. Bill Simon has written a wonderful book 'Back on the Block' about his experiences of removal, his struggles as an adult and how he was to eventually able to overcome them.
