It's a pointless, small place on a map in outer space.
Every second, everyday you're gone,
I've got a job that I can't keep working on,
Yeah.

I think you are so annoying,
That's why you get so disappointing.
I swear you are so important,
Nothing you do is pointless,
Yeah.

There is no modern mystery,
No mystic chords of memory.
There is no modern mystery,
We're making up our history.

Woah-oowoah, Woah-oowoah, Woah-oowoah, Woah-oowoah.
Woah-oowoah, Woah-oowoah, Woah-oowoah, Woah-oowoah.

And I'm so glad I don't hear you say no.
I'm so glad I dont hear you say no.

You could really put me in my place,
On a map in outerspace.
You've got a real cool constitution, and it's a come on,
But it's not an illusion,
Yeah.

There is no modern mystery,
No mystic chords of memory.
There is no modern mystery,
We're making up our history.

There is no modern mystery, (Oooh)
No mystic chords of memory. (Oooh)
There is no modern mystery, (Oooh)
We're making up our history. (Oooh)

There is no modern mystery,
No in-between ancestory.
I didn't mean to hurt yah.
Thought I was done,
But I heard yah.

There is no modern mystery, (Oooh)
No mystic chords of memory. (Oooh)
There is no modern mystery, (Oooh)
We're making up our history. (Oooh)

Woah-oowoah, Woah-oowoah, Woah-oowoah, Woah-oowoah.
Woah-oowoah, Woah-oowoah, Woah-oowoah, Woah-oowoah, Woah-oowoah.

And we may fight with each others shadows,
But I'm so glad I don't hear you say no.
Yeah,
I'm so glad I don't here you say no.
I'm so glad I don't hear you say no.

General Comment:I kind of always though that it had to do with religion because of the line "I think you are so anointed, that's why you get so disappointed" Anointing usually refers to religious ceremonies. So maybe it's saying that people put too much faith in the existence of the unknown rather than living their life for themselves.

General Comment:The intro and outro guitar parts are VERY similar to Beirut's Elephant Gun.

Haha, I wish I had better input than that, but that's all I have.

General Comment:Gotta love a Lincoln reference. God I love this band.
Is there another song that has an opening really really similar to this one (and I know it's not Pink Bullets that I'm thinking of, although I agree they are similar). The first time I heard this song I could have sworn I'd heard that part before, although I didn't recognize the rest of the song.

General Comment:i was reading a quote by abraham lincoln and the phrase "mystic cords of memory" was used which triggered my recollection of this song

"We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic cords of memory will swell when again touched as surely they will be by the better angels of our nature.”

General Comment:Just a few corrections... I don't have the liner notes in front of me, but I believe the first two lines are:

I think you are so anointed,
That's why you get so disappointed.

He sings those T's as D's which is why it sounds as you posted...
