Oh, little did she know
Couldn't let me go
Already a part of her

So often do I meet
People in between,
That just can't get a hold of it

So we'll just sing it for them
Ahhh
Yea, we'll just sing it for them
(Just can't get a hold of it)
So we'll just sing it for them
Ahhh
Yeah, we'll just sing it

It's the greatest thing that's yet to have happened
Imagine knowing me
It's the greatest thing you'd ever imagine
But you'll never know until you're there
No, you'll never know until you're there

Slow, leave walking to the world
Give your feet a chance
They'll do all the thinking
Toast high until they find
Less pathetic wine,
Until they get a better blend

And we'll just drink it for them
Ahhh
Yeah we'll just drink it for them
(Until they get a better plan)
So we'll just drink it for them
Ahhh
Yeah we'll just drink it

It's the greatest thing that's yet to have happened
Imagine knowing me
It's the greatest thing you'd ever imagine
But you'll never know until you're there
No, you'll never know until you're there

It's the greatest thing that's yet to have happened
Imagine knowing me
It's the greatest thing you'd ever imagine
But you'll never know until you're there
No, you'll never know until you're there
No, you'll never know until you're there

My Interpretation:FOR ME, THIS SONG SOUNDED LIKE THEY ARE GOING TO GET MARRIED.

    "So often do I meet
    People in between,
That just can't get a hold of it"

--> Most of their friends just can't believe that they will finally tie the knot.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

"It's the greatest thing that's yet to have happened
    Imagine knowing me"

--> The singer/speaker is just announcing that there will be a wedding and he knows his friends couldn't believe it knowing the character and attitude he has maybe towards relationships.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

"It's the greatest thing you'd ever imagine
But you'll never know until you're there
No, you'll never know until you're there"

--> It's like saying "You will never know the feeling of being truly in love and deciding to spend the rest of your life with that someone unless you get there youself."

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Slow, leave walking to the world
    Give your feet a chance
    They'll do all the thinking"

--> This is like "Walking along the aisle". He's just saying that she doesn't need to worry and she can just let go.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    "Toast high until they find
    Less pathetic wine,
Until they get a better blend"

--> They can totally celebrate their relationship without worrying other people's opinions because eventually, when people realize how good they are together, they can finally accept their union.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well yeah, for me this is the meaning of this song and I don't think the title has to do with the lyrics. :)

General Comment:I think it's about meeting kids on tour who have tried to kill themselves or have wanted to but they didn't do it because of Panic or just because of music in general. I don't think this song has anything to do with god considering Brendon and Ryan are both atheists (I have no idea if Spencer and Jon are or not but Ryan wrote the lyrics so I don't think it matters).
Also, I'm pretty sure Ryan was dating Keltie Colleen around the time he wrote this and she was/is a dancer so I guess that inspired the title.

My Interpretation:i dont know about my interpretation but i was thinking that this song is like a message for the fans or something

    Oh, little did she know
    Couldn't let me go
    Already a part of her

like how we couldnt let go of their album A Fever You Cant Sweat Out
coz its like already in our system

    So often do I meet
    People in between,
That just can't get a hold of it

then there are those who are having a hard time choosing and comparing the two albums
like having a hard time loving pretty.odd because they like AFYCSO better

So we'll just sing it for them
    Ahhh
Yea, we'll just sing it for them
(Just can't get a hold of it)
So we'll just sing it for them
    Ahhh
    Yeah, we'll just sing it

so yeah..they are just gonna sing it for them..for them to really hear and appreciate the song

It's the greatest thing that's yet to have happened
    Imagine knowing me
It's the greatest thing you'd ever imagine
But you'll never know until you're there
No, you'll never know until you're there

and this part is like pretty.odd talking like "im great but you dont know coz u didnt listen" or something along those lines

Slow, leave walking to the world
    Give your feet a chance
    They'll do all the thinking
    Toast high until they find
    Less pathetic wine,
Until they get a better blend

and this like give yourself a chance and listen closely..i dont know

i know im giving a really literal meaning to this song..
and im sorry for the confusing explanation..im just rambling i know..but i apologize..
its my first time posting here..and im not really good in english.. Ü

General Comment:I agree w/ penguinOtaku...As the meaning of the song...Pas de cheval..Step of the horse makes more sense. It could be dance..but I've also heard it as a fumble, to take a bad step, etc. This whole album is about love...You could take it in a way of loving God too. but this is my take on it.
Oh, little did she know couldn't let me go already a part of her: She's denying her feelings about him or she really doesn't know how much she's connected and relies on him.
So often do I meet people in between, that just can't get a hold of it: other couples just can't get that perfect relationship in the movies. or he knows people that keep looking and kind find anything or are doing something wrong.
So we'll just sing it for them: be an example i guess. We'll be that perfect couple.
I don't find the chorus that cocky...just trying to convince her. Saying that LOVE could be the greatest thing to ever happen and just imagine falling in love w a guy like me-knowing me on a higher level...you can trust me etc. just give me a chance.. But you'll never know 'til you're there: just give it a try. That's where the title ties in-it's okay to fumble but you can't find the right one unless u try.
Slow, leave walking to the world. Give your feet a chance, they'll do all the thinking: again. just go with it. Let your feelings show and everything should just come naturally.
Toast high until they find less pathetic wine, until they get a better blend: similar to first verse of being an example. Same with we'll just drink it for them.

Sooo....basically take a chance on love, don't hide feelings. It's okay to make mistakes until you get there. that's just how i see it.

General Comment:I don't like this side of Panic! at the Disco...
I want them to go back to their alternative/emo/alt-techno/whatever the hell they did before.

General Comment:I always heard this song as a 'rival boyfriend' type song. He's obviously narcissistic, "it's the greatest thing that has yet to have happened, imagine knowing me", and the song has a very 'braggy' tone. I love PATD, and I love this album more than Fever, even though that was one of my favorite dance rock albums I have ever heard. Great sound experiments, keep it up!

General Comment:Now, I'm no music expert and I'm not sure if anyone had mentioned this but there is a good reason why a lot of the songs on this album, including this one, sound like the Beatles. I'm pretty sure they recorded this album in Abbey Road. Makes a lot of sense, now doesn't it.

My Interpretation:Okay, this is just my take on it so please don't get offended or anything:
    Oh, little did she know
    Couldn't let me go
    Already a part of her
Perhaps they broke up and even though she thought she could let him go, she still couldn't, because he had already become a part of her?
It's the greatest thing that's yet to have happened
    Imagine knowing me
It's the greatest thing you'd ever imagine
But you'll never know until you're there
No, you'll never know until you're there
About fame perhaps? 'It's the greatest thing you'd ever imagine' and the line But you'll never know until you're there' could go along with that, you won't know what it's like until you're famous.
And the 'Imagine knowing me' either they're getting a little full of themselves or like, wouldn't it be awesome if you were famous and could meet me? Something like that.
    So often do I meet
    People in between,
That just can't get a hold of it
This, again, could go along with the fame thing. They meet 'people in between' people starting or trying to get famous? And 'people who just can't get a hold of it' again, 'it' could be fame.
So we'll just sing it for them
    Ahhh
Yea, we'll just sing it for them
(Just can't get a hold of it)
So we'll just sing it for them
    Ahhh
    Yeah, we'll just sing it
So we'll just sing it for them': They'll just sing this song for/about 'them', the people who aren't can't get a hold of 'it'

That's the only thing I could come up with, sorry if somebody had already posted this idea.
