Dusty and you are, dirty from chain
Lips of your kisses are sticking like tape
Woke you at sunrise, cold as a grave
I'll cut you some flowers, now don't be afraid
Now don't be afraid

[Chorus]
I'm looking for something, just sink in my teeth without any crying
But I can't find no place or nothing, where thrills are cheap and love is divine
Home by the river, tall grass and fields, pond of willow oak, well for to kneel
Dusty O Dusty, decision night, don't be so pretty, all laced up in white, all laced up in white

[Chorus: x3]

Where thrills are cheap, and love's divine (3x)

Song Meaning:I think it's about his lover being killed. He wakes up the morning and she is dead.
The chorus "where thrills are cheap and love devine" may mean he goes to a strip club or something like that searching for a new love or drown his sorrows.

My Interpretation:i think this is about killing someone.. if el bastardo is right then my hypothesis was correct. the first verse has a lot of references to graves...kneeling to remember the dead...giving her flowers...etc. the rest of the song could follow about his desire to kill

General Comment:I love this song so much!
Ive never known what its about I just love his voice and the sound ... it reminds me of someone singing in a bar! The whole first/second cd is amazing and I love listening to how different the songs are on the cd from how they are now! That cd is so raw and to me pure KoL!

My Interpretation:Well I always figured this song was about a man who wakes up to find his wife dead.

The first verse has a few clues that point to it. The lips sticking like tape would indicate that they are dry and would stick to his wet lips. The cold as a grave is explanatory as is the cutting of flowers. Now the don't be afraid line could either be him consoling her in his mind or the guy consoling himself.

The chorus I believe takes him away from that morning in which he's trying to find something or someone to take his mind off of losing his wife.

The second verse I believe is the man finding a place to bury his wife. I also believe this song has an older feel like this could be happening on out west in 1800s or something like that.

Just my thoughts on the song.

General Comment:Old for sure. Maybe I haven't listened to it enough but the new album doesn't do it for me. Who knows, maybe it will grow on me but there is nothing like the raw, hard edged sound of the first (sort of the second) album. Of course, this is all a matter of opinion. Great song, sorry I don't have a meaning.
